I'm still new to this 6spd tranny swap as well. I'm not really interested in the Type S motor and just want to do the 6spd swap only when/if my tranny goes out. Well it seems that you would need a module ($700) that has been created to make this work on the AV6. So, I believe it would be the same for our 99 TL-p. As seeing Joe is taking a look at this module as well.

Here is an exceprt from (Richie V6):
http://www./forums/showthread.php?t=73383&page=14&pp=30

you got the tranny for a pretty good price. mechanically the 6 speed bolts up no problem. but since the stock engine harness doesnt have plugs for the 6 speed tranny your car wont run properly. without the harness and module the ecu will limit the revs to 5500, vtec wont engage and your speedo wont work. using the harness will allow the 6 speed tranny to run seamlessly with the j30 ecu.

features.
No check engine
corrected final drive ratio
reverse lock out
reverse light
no rev limit
speedo
vtec

These are the modules he has made.

Also, can someone post the engine codes and what car it is. I've seen some 6spd tranny threads around. If anyone knows of a cleaned up thread with a parts list and a DIY for a 6spd to a 99 TL-p I would appreciate it. I would like to see what I would be getting myself into. Thanks

What do you mean by this? The parts list would pretty much be the same as the one i have depending on what route your going. So far im the only one who has thrown a list together.

you could buy a type s motor cheaper than those parts would run you separately

Engine codes and what car it's for: This is what I meant

J30A1 Accord
J32A2 TL-p/TL-s
J35A3 Acura MDX '01-02
J35A4 Odyssey '02-04

is J32A2 for both a TL-P/S.... are the cams differnt between the TL-S and CL-S

for a parts list... i wasn't refering to internals but more of what parts are needed for the 6spd conversion to the TL-P... would that be the CL-s tranny/pedals/shifter assembly, center console, i've read solenoids (but which ones would i need), cl-s ecu or wire harness/module to make our current ecu work with manual tranny.... is this list correct or am i missing anything... is there any part# for the solenoids needed...

Codes for what car what is for?
No J32A1 is the TL-P J32A2 is for the S

well obviously you wont need the wiring for the CL-S motor or ECU None of which will work for the P motor . but all the mechanical stuff (clutch, flywheel, trans, mounts etc.. are all going to be the the same from my list) Im not aware of any solenoids needed. I have no idea what wiring is needed to keep the TL-P motor and you wont find answers here (as no one has done it) Like ive said before your best bet on finding out whats needed is to do your research on the AV6 forum. the accord is close enough where i bet it would be the same.

2. i was thinking it might be easier, just doing the tranny swap and then 02-03 typeS head swap. is this the best "bang for the buck"?or should i jsut get the whole TLs engine

how much would it cost total, including everything for option 1(without labor)
how much would it cost total for option 2 (without labor)

Does the Cl-s tranny bolt right up with tlp engine? what else is needed for it?

what site can i find all the blocks, engines from, other than ebay and acurastore

thanks in advance. sorry if some questions are redundant.
hey whats up I was thinki

With the 3.5 conversion, you you mostly gain low end? Or would there be a top end gain as well? Any drawbacks? I am really considering this but I heard that you lose top end power.

I just thought I'd say I am talking with Richie over on the AV6 forums about making the "module" mentioned earlier for my 99 TL-P.

I've heard that too. I just didn't know why you would lose top end? He could have been wrong. I guess you will just have to do it and tell me. lol.

shouldnt lose any top end. all it is doing is changing the stroke/displacement and adding (if you go with the RL setup) higher compression. all the rest of the tunning (cams and intake) is type-s and should help with higher rpm power, along with better low end TQ
