Question DC Headers or HKS Mufflers ?? Suggestions??

I finally got back with my 02 TL Type-S, I wanna get the best performance out of Her. So far I have added a Injen CAI, I have saved up to buy either some DC headers or a HKS exhaust, they both will run me about the same price. This is 4 my TL's hooked up out there, what would you guys recommend on getting?

DC Headers. Mufflers will add 5 HP. Headers will add 30 HP.

We have a set in stock if need be too.

Alright !! Headers it is...lol....ok but one last step. I read on some prev. threads that in order to install the rear header I'll need to remove the engine mount, cool... i get that part but some one posted that there is no need to remove the mount, he mentioned that the studs had to be removed for better clearance and alignment, thus making it alot EZ'r 2 install the header. How would I be able to remove these studs

You'll get about 20hp with the DC headers. There have been tests that show CT headers getting 30hp, but those are super expensive. DC headers are a great alternative, as they give good gains and are good quality.

You can get DC headers off eBay or Amazon for about $350 shipped. Just google the part number HHC5528 and find a reputable vendor. XLR8's website comes out to a little over $400 shipped. Heeltoe used to sell them for about $350 shipped, but I think he stopped selling them.

Actually the headers do make 30 hp.

http://www.ct-engineering.com/Produc...7/Default.aspx

Makes power through the entire RPM range
Adds approximately 25-30 hp at the wheel

I can get the dyno if need be. I've seen it before but I can't find the link.

Upon DC header installation on 2nd gen acura TL's, has N E 1 had problems such as the check engine light pop up ? and if so...is there any other upgrade i need to get right after installing my hdrs to avoid this ? The last thing i need is for my beibeh 2 run like crap after all that money and time wasted.

I meant I would not mind seeing the dyno if you can get it for both the comptech headers and the do sport headers. Stupid spell check on the iPhone

No, you won't have any problems as long as you properly install them. They don't throw any CELs or anything like that.

If you have an exhaust resonator, DON'T touch it. However, you can remove the mid muffler on the exhaust to make it sound louder.

I might be wrong, but the way I remember is:
99-01 TL-P: Exhaust resonator and mid muffler
02-03 TL-P: Mid muffler only
02-03 TL-S: Exhaust resonator and mid muffler

So you can get your mid muffler cut out for about $40 at any muffler shop. However, don't touch the exhaust resonator, or the car will sound raspy.

Mid Muffler: Looks like an apple juice box
Exhaust resonator: Much longer cylinder

^I think that picture is from a 3G, but it should be the same thing. The mid muffler is the one closer to the Y split in the piping.

will you notice a performance difference by removing the mid muffler on the 03 type s - or will it just change the sound ? Would you suggest removing the mid muffler if you were putting in dc header ?

There will be ZERO performance gains from removing that mid muffler. If I were you, I would put on the headers first.

If you want a little louder exhaust than that, then I would remove the mid muffler.

Front and Rear headers must be different. I Recall DC Headers kit coming with 2 Front Headers and it wont bolt on into the rear bc of Angle...

Check on Google!

I wish I had seen this earlier...You could have pulled the studs off in 5 minutes. Just affix to bolts to the stud and then take the stud off by using a wrench on the first stud you put on.
