Comptech axleback imbalance fix & painted y-pipe
Zip ties & a little of brainwork is your friend
I had the CT axlebacks installed yesterday but the end result was that my left tip is hanging so high that its smashing against the rear lip and melted some of paint/plastic after a short drive. The right one was actually hanging at a good height... unlike most people here with it sagging a bit.
I spent a good hr and a half under the car trying to figure it out by nudging the rubber hangers and rebolting the muffler back on... no luck. Finally I thought about removing the rear rubber hanger so that the muffler hangs down more. After some uber fancy zip-tie work (pulling it towards the inside (front hanger)), i was able to position it perfectly in the middle of the cutout with a pinky gap below the rear lip
I had to adjust the right one to match the left too... by pulling it up (with the rear hanger) and also in-ward a bit (front hanger).
End results: perfecto. It looks impeccably balanced
I would recommend this trick to anyone who may be running into a similar problem with the CT's or other mufflers/axleback systems. Just be sure to use (2 or more) thicker/strudier zip ties.
Some pics of the front hangers, I left the ends of the ties so that in case I need to tighten them in the future I still have something to pull on

Also... I've always thought that our stock y-pipe looks horribly ugly from the back especially when driving at night and its dull brownish copper look attempts to shine underneath the car. And especially with aftermarket mufflers only... the y-pipe stands out even more with the stainless tips & cans connected to it. The fix: black high temp paint!

Great fix man. Looks amazing. I've never run into anything like this with the other setup I was running, but that's definitely great advise for the future. Also good fix with the Y-pipe. Looking good as always
Ahh, the power of zip ties. Good write up. My problem with my magnaflows is they are facing inward. They are right on level but not directly under the exhaust cutout. I gotta get under and play
will the zip ties still hold even after the mufflers heat up......I want to try this on my passenger side that hangs low,but I am wondering if metal zip ties or even a hose clamp might work longer?? TIA

Thanks for all the comps guys
Metal ones most probably would last longer, but I was at home and the only thing I had access to were plastic zip ties
The hangers that the zip ties are tied onto are actually a separate weld that comes from the side of the muffler (as you can see from the pics), so I am hoping that insulates most of the heat. Worst case scenario for me, I'll just have to switch to metal clamps/zip ties once these deform or melt completely
Btw, I want to mention that when I said "removed rear hangers," I meant the one towards the front of the car... sorry about any confusion with the naming and angles. When you work on your car upside down everything gets weird
and two more pics of my work with the "rear" hangers:
