coil sleeves stock struts

i know this has been asked many, many times but i need a real answer please.. im a broke 19 year old, all my money from work goes to my mom to help her pay bills, im sick of seeing my car at stock height and want to LOWER it for cheap, not slam it on its nuts. i figured, put some coil sleeves on and drop it about 2 inches or so, maybe less. would that be fine on stock struts? will it be too bouncy? or too stiff? i honestly dont care about ride quality too much, because the car is 15 years old and 200k miles lol. i just want to get rid of that wheel gap. yes, i know i should get full coilover setup but that is not happening. so. will about a 1.5/2 inch drop on stock struts be ok?

you mean put lowering springs on stock struts? ya you'll be fine if it's a mild drop. I'm sure you can pick up some used springs in the black market here or on kijiji for $150. any springs or coilovers for the 6th gen accord will also fit your TL.

no no, coil sleeves. pretty much lowering springs but adjustable like coil overs, just dont come with any struts like a real coil over set up. i found some on Ebay for around 100 bucks

If your car is 15 years old and the struts are as old or even a little newer, I'd bet that they would blow shortly after additional compression was applied ie; a lowering system of any kind. The issue with if that happens is you'd have to do all the labor over again, readjust over again and put everything back together again. If you do it yourself that is still time spent as well as parts. So in the end it would cost you about the same if not more to just do it right the first time and replace the struts as well.

Oh, if you only want a mild drop just get springs. I'm not sure but those sleeves might be meant to go with aftermarket shocks.
