cheapo intake

What do you guys think about those cheapo intakes on ebay? I can get a regular one for around $40, and a cold air for $45. Anyone tried them?

acutually my friend bought the bomz one off ebay for his 98 protege, 4 banger 1.8, he got the short ram and i helped him install it yesterday. they still got a decent sound to it tho, not bad for simple piping and rubber sleves, but still doesnt compare to the sound of my CAI, SRI r supose to be louder, but his SRI is so quiet compared to my aem cai.

go wit the good stuff..

I just installed a bomz short ram intake on my TLS for the winter today. I hate it, there's a big humming noise coming from the intake and it's really annoying. You really get what you pay for... When I had my AEM cold air intake, I had no problem with it. I loved it

I have an ebay cai and I love it. It makes the same sound as the AEM. I would recommend changing the filter to a K&N cone filter. Other then that its exactly the same as expensive ones.

YEP, just piping with a filter at the end cant really mess that up, but u can stick a logo on it and charge 300bucks for only 40bucks worth of product!

if you have a short ram and you put pipe where the cold air goes direct to the filter in the sri would that work better for the sri or its the same

The concern with me is, SRI's location is by the battery/stock filter, which the SRI draws in heat from the engine bay compared to a CAI where it draws colder air. If your on a budget, get a K&N Filter, save up and then buy the Injen CAI or AEM CAI.

I had a cheap ebay cai intake and the mounting bracket broke off which caused the filter to sit on part of the car for awhile before i noticed it and now the filter also has a hole in it which causes a really annoying hiss.
