What year Legend caliper do I need for the 2 piston upgrade?

1995 Legend LS Coupe - dual piston - raybestos makes the ones most purchase. And ROCKAUTO.COM has the best price I've found!!!
Im doing this in the next month or so myself - stoked!
I got my local Kragen Auto to match the online price of RockAuto!

DO NOT pull the e brake when installing it. it might sound obvious but i had to spend $81 each for the front ones.i fixed the back ones manually

Setting the E-Brake has NOTHING to do with the front brakes. You can have it set and it wont effect any thing.

rockauto.com has a ton of different 95 legend LS coupe calipers, which one's do you guys recommend as their are many Raybestos one's and A1 Cardone one's. What part# would you recommend for just the fronts?

this is what 01tl4tl suggested to me:
frc10627 frc10628
those come with the large mounting brackets- take the new bolts and end clips off that new bracket and install them on the TL bracket
Do NOT use the legend bracket-it does not fit no matter how much it appears that it will
this is just the cheap way to get new hardware springs at a good price.
just remember that you install the (R) on the (L) side and vica-versa

all thats extra info:
Prefill the new calipers with new brake fluid- use a 3$ oil squirt can to get as much as you can in them- it protects the oring seals, and cuts down on air to remove in bleeding'
the bleed order is LF= Driver front
LF RF RR LR
Use dot3 or dot 4 brake fluid, regular stuff if regular brake lines- synthetic fluid if SS brake lines- which are totally worth the money when doing the calipers
i use suzuka brand from the bay store- PM me for info
Or excelerate and mrheeltoe have high quality name brand lines for 120$ full set
where you get calipers will too

Have fun- get used to them before you go crazy late braking- there is plenty of time to sucker tailgaters into a turn way later than they expect to see your brake lights!

cool, but what's the deal with the rears being more expensive than the front's? I only plan on replacing the front calipers for now, but that doesn't make sense why the rears are pricier.

Because tiny parts cost more money???- about 90 each for the rear calipers, and they dont even have a trick external park brake operating assembly mechanism or anything!

A few ques. If I do this do I need legend brake pads? Its it worth doing the rear calipers too? And If i orders these from rock auto can I send back my calipers for the core?

I have never dealt with rock auto- I used kragen at 72.99 plus 30 $ refundable core charge-
the counter person said- whats in the box?
caliper core!! I replied, and credit was issued
When you send stuff to a place that may know the differance- you run the risk of losing the core charge-
but hey- they never specified i had to bring them a ~legend caliper~--

these arent from a legend!! you mean somebody stole my good brakes and put these on instead!!!!

Use ALL TL parts except the caliper itself

The rotors-pads- main bracket- all are from the TL- the brake lines are TL if you install SS lines- which I did with the caliper install
Just install the calipers opposite of marking the big R goes on driver side and L on passenfer side so the bleeders sit on top-

the rear calipers do not have an upgrade- the same/nearly the same/exact caliper is used on nearly every honda and acura made for over 2 decades!
By getting more brake torque in front, the car stops much better

You will quickly be back here praising the newfound abilties to slow and stop extremely fast and very late~

Ok just a few more. The 2 part #'s from above frc10627 & frc10628 are these left and right or 2 diff. ones if so which one should I get? The ss line what do they do? And last do these calipers just bolt right up?

Yes the calipers bolt right up. The part #s are L/R (one is the L and one is the R) not sure which is which, but the calipers are clearly marked as L/R respectively. As stated above you need to install the L caliper on the R side and the R caliper on the L side.
As far as the SS lines. They are more resistant to expansion under pressure than the factory rubber hose. The decreased expansion reduces fading and increase response of pressure build-up in the lines resulting in quicker application of brake pad to rotor.

I actually spoke with someone at Rockauto when I was looking into it and they said that they would be happy to take a 2000 Acura TL Caliper in trade/core for the 1995 Legend one. The TL caliper is a less common more expensive part. It was in their interest to take it instead. Kragen Auto (at least my local one) said the exact same thing - better part - no worries!

why dont you guys support your local parts stores?
- most will match an online price- just like the tire store will.
And buying things from them now- means they will be there when you need oil and seafoam!
That eliminates shipping cost and return time waiting on refund, go to the store and you are done.
Dont say anything- the phone person or counter person doesnt know one brake from the other- my store wondered why I returned brackets with it!

Once at the dismantling facility- they read the numbers and know what caliper part number it is and toss it in a box. The pistons may fit many many cars and go in another big box to be reused.

It makes sense that more gen2s are needing front calipers than 95 legends lining up to buy them~

Change your brake fluid every year to prevent needing calipers sooner- crud gets in - rust particles form and orings get cut- the piston sticks or gets sideways and wears the pads and tortures the rotors.
All that,,, when you could have spent 6 bucks and 45 minutes- first time - later its faster since you know how. Revives weak brake pedal~

I asked up front while doing my checks for availability and such. Not sure you'd wanna risk just sending them in as if nothing was up. But like 01TL4TL said - do take a shot at asking your local spot to match the price. I did and it didn't take but 5 minutes - my local Kragen kicks butt! If they wont match, seeing RockAuto has a really good price, then call em up and tell them the whole deal - they were super cool when I spoke with them.

The Rockauto peeps told me that I would have to pay to ship the cores back per their provided instructions when received.

Then I went over to the nearest Advanced Auto store and asked if they could order these locally and they did not even have them on the computer. So I decided to order them online, not knowing if sales tax would be calculated. Turned out that I found the online coupon and proceeded through the order process and found free shipping for orders over $75; and no FL sales tax.

Win-Win situation.

Looks good. Closest Kragen or affiliated parts store is 2hr+ away from me. Probably go this way and I can return for core when I do my reserve weekend in Oklahoma City.

How come I dont see any caliper grease on the pad end slider clips or the finger contact areas?
All that stuff moves dramatically under braking and needs to be lubed properly

Remember to flush the brake fluid every year now- keep all those parts in top condition

It's there - top and bottom of pads and on the back / inside of the fingers themselves. Harder to see with the flat black caliper and bracket, but it's there.

Does anyone know if these calipers sit closer to the inside of the wheel spokes once installed? My new HFP wheels with 55 offset are very, very close to the caliper now..and I may look into getting these to install on my next brake job.
