Basically AEM CAI, Ingen CAI, and Comptech iceboxes are the most common on this forum so yea their good. I have an AEM but its not the v2. I love it. I'm sure everyone will imput their own set-up. But you won't go wrong with the v2. If you can find an older version of the AEM it would be cheaper.

Well if your fine with your set-up I personally wouldn't spend the cash unless you get a good deal. I got mine off ebay for 80 bucks shipped so I snagged it. But paying whatever the v2's are like 300ish just isnt worth it IMO especially if you already have a short ram.

wouldn't you just be able to go to home depot and get a reducer coupler?

I wouldn't change the throttle body, that's more hassle than anything!

And you wouldn't restrict anything...The coupler is called a reducer but in this case you turn it around!

\/\/ This probably isn't the right one but is the right kind!

^the v2 starts wide like 3 inches or 4, then theres another tube inside it which is the diameter of the tl-p tb, so u'd be restricting it inside the intake.

If your going to buy it new why not just get the one that fits? I dont see why you would waste your money on one that doesnt fit...

Correct, the V2 starts off at the filter 4 inches and then goes to 2.75" which is the size of the TLP Throttle body. By putting it on a type S, which the throttle body is 3" you are reducing the amount of air going into the intake. I did this on my Type S just for giggles because I had a v2 left over from my TLP and it lost ALOT of performance. Sounded good tho ...If anything P2R makes a V2 knockoff for the Type S. If you wanted you could find a V2 used and weld a 3" pipe to it so that it would fit the Type S without restriction.

i know there probably isn't a BIG difference between the AEM setup and the Injen one for TL-S' but is there a huge performance difference between these CAI style ones and the comptech Icebox? i know they're very different in thier construction but what is the big deal function wise? which ones give better or more consistent gains? sorry to be off topic...

Don't have it personally but from what I've heard its quiet so I dont believe you get the growl of an AEM or Injen. The gains are minimal with a CAI no matter which you get so it should be close to if not the same as an AEM/Injen.

Yea they v2 is a pretty gr8 intake. I plan on making myself something like it when I do some upgrades to my motor. But it will start at 4inches from the TB and down to 5 all the way to the filter.

I have a AEM V2 in a '00 TL w/ Apexi catback exhaust. The V2 has wires that you install that measures air flow closer to the motor. BTW it was a PITA to take out the old collector box where the cone goes in to. I paid $250.00 two years ago from Tire Rack.
