Adding a transmission cooler?

So I have a 2000 tl with the transmission filter crap. Has anyone tried to put a cooler inline after the filter where it returns into what I'm guessing is the fill hole on the non filter cars? My filter started leaking at the oring and while I was taking it apart I thought of that being an easy way to add some kind of cooling to these things

cooler

i have always added tranny coolers to my cars for many many years and despite having one for the last couple of years for the tl haven't gotten to it yet . . Near Pittsburgh here . I have always bypassed the radiator altogether with coolers rated for full size motor homes and have never had any issues with winter warm-ups etc . I got into the habit after losing 2 transmissions to coolant getting into the tranny fluid from a radiator going bad over a few years . If one is worried about cold weather warmup , you can add a bypass switch to divert the fluid through the stock radiator cooler in the winter . Just sharing what has been my experience .Or hook it up in line and also keep the internal in use . Me? I didn't plan on my unusual luck striking a third time .
