The oem lip kit is hard to find but we'll worth it. The rest are fiberglass and more fragile to scrapes and hits. Keep an eye on the black market, they pop up every once in a while

The oem ones are not cheap and after market ones like wings west are less expensive but made from fiber glass therefore crack more easily. If you can find an oem front lip and use the wingswest for the sides and the rear you might save yourself the hastle of breaking the front.

look up MugenInspired. He has(d) my favorite lip kit set up for our cars. WW front and rear lip + OEM sides. To make the front lip flow with the sides you have to cut the wings off the front lip. It's much more aggressive than the OEM lip.

The ww lip is made of polyurethane. This will teach you something about lip kits/body kits.

Welcome Rellgeta !!!
Congrats on purchasing the '99 TL.
$1700....Doesn't seem like a bad price for a '99 with 201K.

But before investing money into the lip kit or any mods, check out the 2nd Gen's "DIY" sticky for common problems and fixes.
Get to know the car and any potential trouble spots. Make sure that all the maintenance is up to date and that everything is tight and safe.

Once ya feel good about the general basics of the overall car and decide that it's a keeper, then do the desired mods as you can afford.
This site has plenty of great ideas and tips for most anything that your heart desires when the time comes to mod.
Do the PM checklist first !!! Have fun and enjoy the TL.

of couse correct 100%.. when I first got the car I -- in this order

1# water pump/ timing belt
2# complete tuneup ( well oem plugs, cleaned throttle body, egr, all ports)
3# changed every belt and both radiator hoses.

I have not done seafoam yet (kinda scard) lol.. I only use 93 octane..
I have to get a power steering pump since the lovely machanic overtighten the belt (read about that here)

ANYthing else I should look out for .. I heard about the trans problems so I got that serviced (fluid)

There is no such thing as a "Type-S" kit for these cars. The only oem kit ever made was the same. Actually the oem kit was on the TL-P before the TL-S was made. The ONLY difference is the 02-03 has a different front lip due to the bumper being different from the 99-01

That is a non-oem, fiberglass mix lip kit that is a 02-03 design front lip on the 99-01.

IF that were an actual 02-03 oem kit it it still wouldnt be a type-s kit as it was offered on the base tl as well from the factory.

understood. Well I narrowed it down to the last two options.. The one showed above, or the Extreme Dimensions Spyder Body Kit.. I know those are not going to be the "best" choice for purest (and I get that).. I just want something to keep the car smooth and clean.. What y'all think??

I am trying to make that choice this weekend to order it

Smooth and clean? The car without a kit is already smooth and clean.

Yeah, definitely much cleaner than some of the poor fitting aftermarket kits, IMO.

One of the reasons I choose not to have or even search for an OEM kit is because it flares out too much for me. If anything I would do Just the WW front lip and cut the wings off... But I haven't seen anyone try JUST that.
