are you speaking of headlights? because LEDs are not quite there in terms of light output and in fact, you will get worse lighting and most likely spend more, than if you just did it correctly.

you dont have to buy OEM HID's, although the aftermarket scene is quite expensive.
it's your car and you can do whatever you want to it, it's just not feasible to go LEDs in the headlights.

Get some D2H bulbs from www.theretrofitsource.com and call it a day. the 2GTL uses D2H, not D2S

I have LED's in my Dakota and they are far better than conventional. I replaced some stock HID parts for years.. $$$! Then git an aftermarket "kit" off ebay last year. Already dead. I am OK with less light for 1/100th the cost.

Thank you but I am not going with another HID solution on an almost 300k mile car. Its my youngest daughters car and its been through our family like a bad mexican dinner. Still strong, still pretty but not worth top price parts.

Can anyone tell me if the HID buld fitment matches anything conventional or LED? Things got a strong 14V feed so I think a standard bulb of some sort will be just fine.

Only in the fact that I run them in place of halogen and they are great. Thought this was a place to talk about modifications, not shame people for trying?

I did after your reply and all I see is D2H HID bulbs. I dont see D2H being a form factor that crosses to led or halogen. Thanks anyway.

because people dont put halogens in place of HID, its typically one way, not the other way. You wont find a halogen bulb that fits in a D2S/D2H housing. You may find an LED D2S though

I completely understand that and, for enthusiast who want more performance, not less it makes sense. This TL-S has been handed down quite a few times and it'll be retired or become a track car after my daughter is finished with college. I simply dont want to replace HID parts for the next few years is all. As stated, I love the LED's in my Dakota work truck and there going on 5 years now. Didnt even get a year and a half out of a full HID conversion I did on thr TL just before my youngest got it. Thanks again, I may have found something.. https://nextgenspeed.com/shop/lighti...-9012-d2s-d2h/

Sounds like you just bought a subpar quality “full hid conversion kit” . Now i get why you’re hesitant to do it again, but then you’re absolutely doing it again by buying a subpar LED product. Good luck to you

Just get some plugs that fit the LED lights you're buying, and solder them in place of the existing mount. Like the other guys said, most owners aren't gonna swap HID for LED, so I doubt a product exists for that - you'll have to splice in the connectors yourself. But that should only take a few minutes total, with most of the work being in getting to the rear of the headlights.

I am a security electronics professional by trade. I have no problem getting the 12V feed to where it needs to go and already have the housing off the rear of the headlights WITHOUT removing the bumper, housing, etc as every youtube vid has said must be done. My issue is a bulb with the same base as the stock that can be secured with the factory clip. I guess no one has performed this "down grade" or just wont speak up in fear of being flamed. I'm a member on pirate4x4.com, this place is childs play when it comes to flaming. lol.

Jus damn! Acura "shitted it up" when they made an inferior transmission! But thanks for your very WISE input. I can now see why this site is so dead. I'll post up when I make $70. LED's work, feel free to hate away as your replacing your overpriced hid junk for years to come..

Do some before and after pics please. Sounds like you know what you need to do the job. As for the community, well, I think its the best around for a 20 year old car. Sure you'll get told, but isn't that the case anywhere on internet? Let's be real, america is stuck in the past with our high/low. All our headlights stink unless you got one of them new fancy ADB systems from overseas. Now THAT would be a sweet conversion! Good Luck!

I am going to do that. I know hid's are pretty damn good. Cant wait to see if I can make an 8k lumen LED work at less than half the price and far less parts. I'll post up pics...

Have you considered a HID to Halogen conversion? That seems to fit your interest for worse performance at a lower cost.

you got butt hurt over one comment??? you arent as hard as you think you are.

hurry up and finish the conversion! stop worrying about what others say and just do you man, I really want to enjoy LEDs but my thinking is; it's not fully developed yet in the after market scene.
The OEM's like BMW have mastered the LEDs in headlights. but that comes with major R&D

I agree. LEDs look so nice but they don't throw far enough for my crappy eyes. HIDs are the best I've had for visibility. I'm tellin ya though, ADB systems are the future!

That's mainly because people are throwing in LEDs into their Halogen or HID projector bowls and the optics aren't MEANT for that.. To get the best PERFORMANCE, you want to not only measure luminosity, but how the optics play with the specific bulb (e.g. get a specific LED projector and stop throwing HIDs in halogen projector bowls.)

Ok 2 things..

1, I don't get butt hurt over people who sit at desk and because they have said car and have bolted on a few things. Besides, what gives them the right to flame away in of all places, a "performance parts and MODS" forum. I consider "downgrading to be a mod, no? I consider it a cost effective solution to all the bull shit HID stuff that's on the market and that's from first hand knowledge. Me personally, I think if they had nothing to say regarding my question except what they did say, they're fools trying to play a fools game inciting people which is ALWAYS helpful when people are asking advise, I'm jus sayin'

2, Again, I could give a rats ass about what "other" people say unless its not addressing the thread and my question. Kids these days have no problem going off topic, being rude and basically being little shits. All common decency is almost gone and even though I hated Chevy back in my racing days, I would still lend a hand wrenching and tell them what I ACTUALLY knew that might help them. Not bash them for "shitting up their life" cause they owned a Chevy and I just took $200. beating them in my "shitted up Mopar". ;-)

Now here's the kind of advice I was looking for! I wondered because the TL has that reverse reflector and my Dakota doesn't. That makes total sense and I may buy an 8k lumen set just to try for the hell of it.

I think this thread might have the highest level of activity that I've seen among the entire 2nd-gen subforum. Turns out all we needed was some light trash talk to get everyone involved.
