Zymol vs. Meguire's

I've used Meguires consistantly for several months and had just recently made the switch to Zymol (Cdn Tire). Zymol goes on easier, goes off easier, smells nicer, and stays on much longer. The only problem is the Zymol likes to flake off, but other than that it is much better. The biggest diffrence is how long it lasts. Meguires is fine, until you wash your car. Then Meguire's strips off in one wash (using meguire's car wash) whereas Zymol lasts 3-4. Any Meguire user out there I would suggest give Zymol a try. At first it seems odd, but once you are used to it there is no turning back.

I had used Meguiars in the past. Liked it a lot. Then I used Zymol. Liked that even better. Now I use Zaino and I'm totally hooked!

lol kimeh, good one.

i was a Meguire fan too, but recently i got the zaino and i am now hooked too. initially when i paid almost double for the zaino i did anticipated a little bit, but ever since i used it i just can't say enough about it. so easy to come off, so shiny, and they last long. excellent product.

umm, english is not my first language but i will give it a shot. when you wax your car you put the compound on the car, wait for it to dry out, and then use a cloth to rub it off right?

when i was using Meguiar, i had to apply quite some force to rub them off totally leaving the shiny surface, but with zaino i just have to use the cloth and "shake" on the surface lightly and the dried-up wax would "come off" easily. i don't even have to rub hard to clean up the whole surface.

Starts and ends with Zaino. The rest are just pretenders.

I have had great luck and results with Zymol. Zymol give your car a liquid like shine if you use the pre-wax treatment then the wax.

Wherever you find Meguire's you should be able to find Zymol. I got mine at Cdn Tire, but obviosuly you guys can't go there in the US. I've heard other members say something about Zymol at walmart. But if you head down to your local car store I'm sure it will be there. It is priced in the same range as Meguires. Like I said Meguire's is fine, but it just doesnt last! You'll over work yourself keeping your car waxed. Zymol doesn't just wash off the way Meguire's seems to. Give it a try!

trust me on this one......The Zymol that you get anywhere but www.zymol.com is glorified Turtle Wax. It is crap. I grew up working at a Mercedes Dealership driving the Courtesy Wagon. Everyone that I picked up and took places, I told them about my detailing work. I have done over 1000 seperate detail jobs on all the high end cars, and Zaino is head and shoulders above any of the stuff I used to use (from Meguires to Zymol to the stuff from the dealership). Go to www.zainobros.com and get the scoop. I have purchased the whole suite of products from www.zymol.com and, while it was very nice, it was labor intensive, required repeating (or feeding) and just doesnt last near as long as Zaino. Just a heads up........

daryl - yes the Zymol widely available may be made by Turtle Wax, but apparently it does perform pretty well. I agree with most of your statement, but not the "It is crap." It is a good product, but I will take Zaino for my money.

Here is a comparison I think was originally posted by NSXnext??
http://www.nsxsc.com/nsexcitement/waxtest.html

This includes the expensive Zymol and the Turtle-Wax Zymol, and these guys liked the Turtle-Wax variety better!

Yes I realize the potential of zaino. I've heard it over and over. Not everyone wants to spend that kind of money and time. I'm just talking to the average joe that waxes his car every so often. Zymol seems to be more effective than Meguire's, and I'm trying to save people some effort in recomending Zymol because it won't wash off like Meguire's.

actually i found out that using zaino needs LESS time then i needed for Meguire's. it dries faster, and it needs less them to clean them off.

Zymol recommends wiping the wax off before it dries - once it does dry, it's just as tough as any other paste wax to remove. If you get it before it dries, Zymol application is a snap.

I agree with daryl - the Zymol from the local auto parts store was much more prone to streak and it was much tougher to get that "liquid" shine we all covet. If you're buying Zymol, do it over the web, or get it from an authorized distributor.

Based on all of your positive comments concerning Zaino, I think I may give it a shot next spring (although I doubt any wax will get the deep "liquid" gloss that you guys with the dark colors get - that's one disadvantage of white/pearl cars)

I have used ALL(except Zaino, which is not sold in retail stores as far as I know)... Maguiar's, Mother's, and Zymol seem to be the 3 top brand... However, my experience is differ from Viper-ACR... I actually found Zymol to be much more labour/time intensive than Maguiar, with similar result of Maguiar's....

Some Canadian Tire has the Crystal Deep Polish(3 steps, then wax), if you really want a deep glossy shine, I suggest you try that.... other wise, scratch remover, sealant, and good wax(yellow wax) is all you need to get a good shine....

There is a new contender: Blackfire has just been released.

http://properautocare.com/blackfire.html

Supposed to shine and last like Zaino but give the depth of color of a good carnuba wax.

On the contrary, my 2002 WDP is absolutely gorgeous after her 12 coats of Zaino.....Dont wait until spring.....

That kind of money? You can buy two of the Zaino products and have your car looking 5 times better than that of one that you detailed with Zymol. It MAY be 13 more measley dollars but is well worth it.

i bought z1, z2, and z5, after shipping it was around 45 bucks and i got the applicator for free.

if you go into a local auto shop and get Meguires polish, wax, etc etc.... i think it wouldn't be much cheaper than my set of zaino. and being a user of both products, the results are day and night.

after using Meguires, my gf said, "cool, the car looks shiny". after using zaino, my gf said, "how much wax did you put on the car?" let me remind you, i am still in the z5 stage, not even a layer of z2 yet.

I've used both Meguiars and Zymol's "Cleaner Wax". Meguiars is definately more labor intensive, and anyway you put it, it's a b!tch to wipe off by hand. Zymol comes off much easier, even if left on for a few minutes, and gives the car a deep wet look to the paint...I have yet to try the Zaino suff, maybe that'll be next. I Like many of Meguiars stuff, but sway away from their polish and wax from now on after using Zymol.

I agree, i like Meguires stuff but the polish just isnt quite as good as Zymol. The Meguires Natural Shine interior stuff is great! As far as Zaino price I'm not sure about how stuff prices out for you guys, but I live in Canada and from the Cdn Zaino dealer when I priced out a package (Z1, Z2, Z5, Z6, Z7, 318) it came out between 80-100 dollars Cdn. Zymol costs $13 Cdn at Cdn tire. I'll get myself some Zaino one day, but for now, Zymol is doing me fine.

You forgot the fact that for your $13 you get one item. You are comparing that to the ENTIRE package of Zaino. All you really need is Z-1 and Z-2. $21.90 out the door. I can assure you that the difference between the two is more than 8 bucks. You arent using true Zymol anyway unless you got it from www.zymol.com and it is a ton more pricey than Zaino.

Zymol Introductory Kit

I have used both. Zaino, hands down.

ya, I just figured I should go all out if I'm going to get a professional product. But I suppose I could just pick up z-1, z-2. but im just so tempted to go for z-6, and z-5 then. and then I KNOW I want the wash. cmon . so theres z-7. But i suppose i could go for z-1, z-2, z-7. Does z-6, and z-5 make that much of a diffrence? Our cars are new anyways.

Dont feel the need for Z-5 because, as you said, our cars are so new. The Z-6 I have used a couple of times, but I am not a big fan of polishing a car without washing it first so I dont use it that much. Some people may say that I have some interest in Zaino (nothing more than a personal interest), but honestly, it is just the first polishing items that I have found that appease me to my fullest expectations. I am a perfectionist about most things in my life, but my car takes the cake.

did anyone in Ontario (Canada) find a place that sells Zaino? I'm dying to try it out.....is it easy to take off? Or does it become impossible to come off if you let it dry for 2 minutes too long.

Call Sal to find a dealer. Today I put on my 14th or 15th coat (cant keep track) and let it set on the car during the first set of NFL football games 1-4pm. He says the longer it stays on the better. Very easy to take off. you can even put it on your windows........

www.car-fanatic.com is the cdn dealer site. They have cdn prices listed on there. Just print out the order form, and total up what you want. That is the easiest way to figure out price IMO.

This was tghe comparison that made me try Zymol. I was origonally with Meguire's but the test results show clearly that Zymol is the way to go.. well if you arent with Zaino .

car color

I know that a darker car color like black really shows whether its been cared for and waxed properly, but I wonder about lighter metallic colors like mine. Has anyone tried Zaino on a Metallic Gold color and observed astonishing results over regular wax like Meguiars Gold?

I stripped and waxed my NBP with Zymol this past Saturday and the car came out AWESOME!! Believe it or not that was the first time I stripped and waxed the car with Zymol since I bought the car in April. I have had a detail job done a couple of months ago but that did not come out as good as Zymol. I am not knocking Zaino because I have never used it but I don't think I will ever switch from Zymol to anything else.

I've been having great results with the Meguiar Gold Class products? also, my trunk was swirl mark and scratch city some ho. Just that part of the car? Used Meguiar Scratch X and no joke 95% gone! Can even see them any more except under artifical light and at an angle.
