Your opinion on tints

Getting my tints done at 330 pm today, i was thinking of going 20 all around, and 35 windshield, btw i got a 2001 ssm tl, with ebony interior, any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 03 SSM with Ebony interior as well. I have 20 all the way around and I think it looks really good. Personally I wouldn't do anything to the windshield, but that just

Enjoy

Do you have a NAVI?

With the black interior ... it's going to be really dark... Should look good though...

Where do you live? If in FL or TX then maybe do the front... I wouldn't though... I mean your car will be kept very cool because most heat comes in the front and rear windshields.

I also hope you have good eyes because 20% can be difficult for some to see through at night.

It won't matter if you get a lifetime warranty with the tint because no company will honor it. You could still use it as a tool to make sure you're putting on a good tint though.

% depends on what look you're going for.

I like 20% for privacy, but it can draw police attention in certain areas. It's a sexy look that makes me think you're smoking weed or have a system in there... Gangsta!

I think 35% looks good if you want your car to look expensive and be seen like under shaded sunglasses.

my

depending on how long you plan to keep the vehicle... is what kind of tint you want to afford... There is straight dye, metallic, ceramic.

Oh, yeah...

Make sure they micro edge the windows... and get the rear quarter windows all the way back...

Some tints have a green, blue or true grey hue to them... since our windows have a slight green... try to get a straight up charcoal look..

I would stay away from madico.... and M3 is hard for them to work with... So go with lumar/formula 1 or solorguard or something...

Just want to confirm. Since I have a navi, black tints are ok right? Someone told me its just the mirror tints that will sometimes disrupt the navi. Is this true?

Not black tints... Stay away from mettalic tints with metal in them.... Now, some people will swear up and down that their AM stations and Navi are fine with a metallic tint...

It says in the owner's manual not to do it and others have had problems, so basically it's just depends on weather you want to take that chance and worry about it.

Here is the answer on a silver plate... Go with Formula One's classic (pure dyed with lifetime warranty) or Formula One Pinnacle (ceramic with a lifetime warranty).

If you want the look but, with a lower cost go with the Classic... If you need more heat rejection go with the ceramic... I went with the ceramic... I don't know why cause it cost twice as much lol and I have been without a tint forever so wtf....

I just figured that you only do it once if you do it right.. so I did the best... but, I would have been happy with the classic too.

Formula One is Lumar's top of the line tint and it's the only pure dyed film that has a lifetime warranty for them. I think Lumar makes only one with a lifetime, but it's almost impossible to find a dealer that carries it.

5% rear, 50% front doors, 5% windshield...........In CA you have to watch out for too dark on the front door sides since it's illegal.

The main question is ... Do you want legal tint or illegal tint?

20% is illegal, but edges the limit by not being like limo completely... So most cops won't mess with you... some areas they are dicks though.

its going to be really dark in there! Have fun trying to see the road at night!

I put 35s all the way around except for my windshield, since its illegal for us to do that in Ontario.

Nothing....

I went to the Distribution Center... The only tint that comes in pure dye without metal that offers a lifetime warranty has a very green hue to it.

I wanted a more natural charcoal shade... That's all

That seems like a perfect setup. Or y dont you go with limo on rear defrost window and 20% on the sides and 35 or 30% on the windshield.

When I said 5% windshield, I meant just across the top!

20% all around except for windshield which is factory. when i'm driving in the city, i'll open up the visor on the roof so i can be seen and it doesn't look like i have dark tints. otherwise in the sun it helps ALOT by protecting you and your interior. i thought about doing 35% but that was nothing. it really all depends on the cops if they want to be a$$holes and its that time of the month to get their quota. i got stopped before and the cop looked inside the rear through my window which was down when he did a spot check and said nothing about the tints.
