Your First Car

this actually started in thread about tranny issues, but i was curious about your first vehicle that you bought not something mom and dad bought for you: mine was an 82 honda accord hatchback that badged 5 speed on the back of the car, i gave $500 for it and it lasted me until i bought a truck and gave the car to my mom who burned the clutch up

1983 Old's Firenza Hatchback purchased in 1996 ( 16 years old). Bought for 200.00, I was hit Twice, I made 600.00 on the first accident, and 300.00 on the second one.

Made some money on it for the year that is lasted, although it required a quart of oil, every other day. It had a blown rear main seal..

I even had a Futon mattress in the back with the seats down....ah those were the days!

Dating myself.......

My first car was a '76 Chrysler Cordoba with 'True Corinthian Leather!'

Damn 318 in that thing would NOT DIE no matter what I did to that car!

Got the car for free from a friend, gave the car to an ex-girlfriend for free, barely had to put any money into it the 4 years I owned it!

I miss that car................................

1986 Chevy cavalier! $380 in 1996. Gas was under $1.00 a gallon. 5 dollars got me through a whole week.

1st Car = 1971 SuperBeetle I bought for $50 from my Dad's company. Restored it. Got it painted at a bodyshop who's owner was impressed with my handywork so he gave me an after-school job. Sold the VW for a profit and bought a 1970 MG-BGT to restore.... all while I still had my Learner's permit!

1974 Dodge Charger SE 400. Its was 6 years old at the time and a POS even then. Fixed the body up, dug out the dog bones from the rear seat (I kid you not, the owner had 4 dobermans which explained the state of the vinyl seat!) and dropped in a pimped-out 383. It was still a POS when I sold it.

92 Vigor with 201,000 miles and an insane camshaft seal oil leak. Bought a low mileage jdm engine off ebay, dropped that baby in on my own and it ran beautifully until the day I flipped it into a ditch......

Next was a 1982 Cutlass Cierra 120K and motor detonated
Next was 89 Sable 198K 3.8L and blew head gasket
Next was a 1992 Sable LS totalled at 143K
Next was 1992 Sable GS sold at 122K
Next was 1994 Honda accord - still running as my friend has it 200K+ looks like crap
Next was 1998 Accord 4 transmissions within 100K (V6). Sold at 100K

Current car 2002 CL-S moderately reliable 110K 2 transmissions 4 sets of lower ball joints, 3 sets of rear brakes and 2 sets of front brakes, driver side wheel bearing replaced, Secondary o2 sensor out due to wire cut when heat shield came lose on cat. Jello rims (Acura oem) and 3 are bent

VW Passat 99. Bought it from my relative working at VW dealer when it had 165k. It runs beautifully for 2 years till I sold it to my friend at 194k. I really amazed with the strength of 1.8 turbo motor

My first car, which I actually bought just today, is a 2000 Acura 3.2 TL. Has 201,800 miles, but they are mostly highway. Car is in immaculate condition. I hope it lasts me!

My first car was actually my moms minivan, a 2001 toyota sienna xle, still miss that thing to today. Then I used my brother's 97 3.5 rl for a while. Then finally bought my own car, my 03 tl-s. That rl was bullet proof compared to the tl.

Here is pic of my first car. 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham. Purchased May 17, 1992. Paid $1658.50 total for it back then and it was still more than I could afford. It sat until August until I had enough money to register and insure it. It still sits in my garage today, 20 years later. Got 145K on the original Olds 350, and it's still a great car to cruise around in. I basically equate it to driving your couch.
