You Demanded It: Top 5 Things You HATE About Your TL

Well, I bought my TL just a few weeks ago, so I'm still in my honeymoon period. But let's be honest... Nothing's perfect.
Here's your place to vent. What are your top 5 things you HATE about your TL? Here's mine:
5. Slight squeek in my passenger door.
4. Lumbar non-support.
3. Standard wheels.
2. Body roll.
1. Automatic shifting while in "manual" mode.

Haven't had my year-old WDP back to the dealer for anything except oil changes. I love the car, but if I had any gripes it would be (not necessarily in order): 1) Paint too thin - this car deserves better. 2) Would really like a trip computer-compass - I miss the one from my old car. 3) Better gripping tires - the Michelins are too much of a compromise. 4) Manual shift from first to second when using SS. 5) Full leather interior instead of just the seating surfaces. FWIW.

To say more I am a little dissappointed in the car... don't get me wrong I like the car but it just doesn't have a character... too bland... i don't get excited by it...

Although no car is petrfect, I don't think I can muster 5 things I dislike about the car. My biggest gripe (and it's a pretty small issue) is that I'd like a compass in the rearview mirror like other manufacturers offer. That'd probably be a $5 mod that would enroach on $2000 NAVI sales, though... haha
At any rate, I hear a lot of people complaining about the "thin paint" and the 1-2 shift while in SS mode. For them I offer this:
Does anyone have any proof (other than reading sales brochures in 99 which state an x-coat, y-bake paint process and the 2000+ which states a lower number of coats/bakes) that the paint is inferior? I've had my 2000 WDP TL for 1 year/12,200 miles and have never waxed it. All it takes is a wash/dry and the finish is glass smooth and the luster is very deep and rich. There are no obvious defects or blemishes in the finish. Am I just a lucky one or do others really have complaints with the paint (again, outside of what you've READ)?
On the tranny: Aside from autocrossing (which I wouldn't do in a family/near luxury sedan anyway), when do you find that you need the transmission not to upshift from first to second while in SS? Granted, I can see it ticking off some people who feel that it's taking away the little bit of extra control that the SS is supposed to afford them, but what's the big deal? I'd wager to say that I drive in the upper echelon of aggressiveness versus anyone on the board (my previous car was a ~375 horsepower turbocharged GS-R) and I still don't find much use for the SS, other than manually upshifting the car to 5th when it's slightly below the threshhold of 50 MPH or so when it does it on its own. To me the SS is somewhere between gimmicky and a fun toy. It's nice that they threw it in, but no amount of pseudo-manual control with an automatic is going to replicate the control and direct feel of a good manual gearbox. Without trying to sound like I'm coughing up excuses for Acura, perhaps they put the 1-2 auto-shift feature in because people were incessantly slamming against the rev limiter in first gear in the 99 model. Whatever the reason, it's no big deal to me and certainly not a gripe.
I'm not really disappointed by the lack of foglights either. Don't get me wrong, the black voids in the front bumper don't exactly do it for me, but I don't find myself looking for better illumination at night or in storms. The TL's HIDs represent the best headlights I've ever owned.
Sorry for the long post... and If my comments offended anyone, please know that was not my intention. I'd just like some clarification on the paint issue -- if for nothing more than to let me know what to expect as far as it holding up is concerned.

I didn't read anything from the sales brochure to conclude the poor job by Acura or Honda or whichever people refers to but only thru personal living experience. Before the TL, I own a '90 Legend and still does and after all these (11) years I haven't got any major nicks on it yet. But the TL on the other hand is in total opposite. Don't get me wrong the TL is a great car and with whole lot of characters but the paint job is just too poor comparing my Legend. Also, you don't experience the winter weather like many other fellow TL owners here in the Northern states and Canada.

Maybe not the things I hate but more like wish it had...
1 - Auto dimming side mirrors.
2 - Wood shift knob standard, or at least emboss the Acura symbol on the leather one.
3 - 17" wheels standard
4 - Fogs as an Accessory
5 - Memory seats!!

Well many of my complaints I have more to do with my personal taste then the car itself but here they are anyway:
1. No Foglights
2. A little larger then I need at this point in my life.
3. No memory seats.
4. Woodtrim (I wish they offered brushed aluminum or even though now one else seems to like it the black colored woodtrim)
5. Too many of them on the road.

1. No heated seats in the rear, no heated passenger back. Makes passengers feel less pampered.
2. VINYL F*UCKING LEATHER
3. Honda decals on front side windows. WTF is that about? Do you see Lexus with Toyota decals on it?
4. Fake foglight holes.
5. No wood wheel option. No fogs. No auto dimming side mirrors. No fold down rear seats.
I love my TL though.

You guys crack me up. This car does not need fog lights! You just think they look cool, right? Its a mystery to me that you all are so impressed by fog lights in the first place. Why not put the money you save in the bank and be thankful Acura put HIDs in the TL?
1. Narrow, cheap seats that don't compare to either of my previous Legends.
2. The fact that you guys complain about not being free to sport-shift from first to second, when that simply makes things easier without really sacrificing much of anything.
3. Skinny factory tires (which I replaced with CL-S wheels/tires!!!)
4. Pseudo-leather seats (which I didn't even notice 'til after I bought the car, dammit.)
5. Front license plate holes drilled into front bumper by my dealer before giving me the car (which they have agreed to patch and paint in the coming weeks, yes!!).

Great car but:
1. Sound system needs more clarity and depth(check out Bose system in the maxima/I30
2. No all speed traction control..only low speed (undr 18mph)
3. NO fold down rear seats
4. Cheap dials and lights on the dash
5. Honda like front

Well, I'm pleased, very pleased with my 2001 so far, so the only things that I wish I could change would be:
1. In Dash 6 Disc Changer (wish it was standard).
2. Fogs (wish someone would develop something for that opening, it would be sweet!)

I agree with tea elle on the foglight thing: I think a lot of people just want them because they think they look cool.
Also, who CARES if the windows say Honda on them? It IS a Honda. Just like an LS430 is a Toyota. More of the world knows these cars as Hondas and Toyotas than Acuras and Lexuses. If that makes you feel special then their respective marketing departments have done their jobs!
If that statement bothers you, go check your VIN decal on the door jamb. I guarantee it won't tell you your Acura was manufactured by American ACURA Manufacturing.

Not to beat a dead horse -- but why does that bother you? You know it's made by Honda. Everyone knows it's made by Honda.
If it bothers you that your window says Honda on it just like a Civic, just remember that Lexus windows say Toyota on them -- just like an Echo.

I use to get some squeaks, minor issues, etc. I got all of them fixed and I must say I think my TL drives smoother than my 540 now. I like the steering feel of the TL better but the 540 handels better. Don't get me wrong, the 540 feels more solid and heavier but the TL now with all my mods off, stock vs. stock I'd give the edge to the TL.
1. Headroom (need a little more) I'm 5"11"
