I was on my way to Iselin this morning when all of a sudden the check engine light, TCS, and maintenance required light come on. I immediately thought of what many on this forum stated about the transmission and all the lights coming on prior to it dying. I turned back home. On the way home, the car seemes to shake at times. I got home and turned the car off. When i turned it back on, it would remain idle for a few seconds then all of sudden the engine would rev from 1 to 3 rpms then back down to 1 then to 3. I would keep doing this. Is this a transmission problem or what? I am scared as hell to turn the car back on and drive. Its 7AM so park ave. is closed right now. I gotta wait til they open. Someone please tell me what the heck is wrong with my car!!!! Thanx!!

 

Sounds similar to the problem we experinced with our '01 TL. We would be driving down the road and all of a sudden the engine would lose power and the rpm's would jump dramatically. When we took it to Acura, they drove it and said there was a problem, but they didn't know what, and they would get us a new (rebuilt) tranny.

I would definitely take it to the dealership and have them check it out. Good luck.

GOOD NEWS!...the problem was an ICU valve sticking....i think he said ICU, i was half awake when Park Ave called....GOOD TO GO!!...WOOHOO!!

 

What's an ICU valve???

 

Was it the IAC valve? Idle Air Control?

 

maybe??...i dunno...im gonna go pick up my car wed hopefully!
