Yeah or nay to this mod

I really like the TypeS gauges but since I have a 99, I don't want to deal with all the problem with them.

So my plan is just to replace the speedometer (the center gauge) with a TypeS gauge.

Anybody wanna photoshop that for me? Whatcha all think?

BTW, I got a bunch of new mods coming soon. Just waiting for UPS to make some deliveries. I've been out of modding my TL since I had my son over a year ago so it's time to get moving.

isnt it already better to just get reverse indiglo gauges?

It will look odd with only ony gauge changed. (my opinion of course)

TeknoKing brings up a good point, it seems like indiglo would be alot easier and better looking IMO.

I have 03 TypeS gauges on my TL. Only problem I notice is VSA is alway on.
Also it's only between you an your TL what your real miles is
My real gauges read 90K an my TypeS gauges reads 65K now. The only time i switch back is when i have to take to deal or shop then drive another 5K then switch back to my TypeS gauge.

Also i use to have Reverse guage they don't really look good in person to me mainly during the day at nite it cool.

What does it have to do with your miles??? New guages just replace the stock black ones, not the mile counter reading

His sig looks like he replaced the entire cluster. Definitely not my plan, just the gauge faces.

just because the guage does, wont do anything to your car...thats controlled by the ECU

They only reason why i change out the whole cluster is B/c if you messup needle then may has well get another set. Base on past experience with gauges.

true, but I would feel weird with the wrong miles showing...well why are the miles different, isnt that in the ECU?

Answer No, Only gauges cluster reads miles not ECU.
Also if you go buy brand new set of guages miles in cluster it would read 00000. Last there no way for Acura Dealer correct program mile on your cluster.

Nay. Change out the whole cluster or don't change it at all.

Here's a good picture of why I just wanna do the center gauge. Granted the bottom gauges are the indiglo ones, but you get the idea.

The 99TL has a 4-speed tranny which means the left side gauge will have to be modified (as shown by the bottom gauge cutouts for the gear selector. The right side gauge is totally different. The center gauge is exactly the same on the TLP and TLS.

I'm gonna order one (it's only $25) and see how it looks.

Here's a photoshop (I'm not an expert so no jokes)

haha, ya not that good...and I think it looks ghetto also when people change the '99 guages by cutting them.

Just call ANY Acura Dealer and Ask to speak to there Part Department.

After answer 2 private Message i got 3 more Question about the TYPE S Gauges in 99 So here What i Know:

All the indicators are in same spot expect 99 gauges don't have VSA that why when plug in TypeS gauges your VSA Light is alway on it replaces TCS. Also when you get TypeS gauges you will have to adjust gear shift light it's a hair off. Last some Type S gauges after plug in may cause Gas an Temp Needle to shot up to F/H little adjust with clear cover case off and your finger will fix all of that.
