XSP header issues!
i have a minor problem but it is either because i removed my resonators or my muffler is bad. the sound only sounds like it is coming from the left tip but it is too loud to tell. when i get my new exhaust in the late summer i will have that fixed. it only does it when it is cold.
so ive been trying to fix the problem, but the noise seems to be coming from somewhere else. It sounds more like air is "slushing" through around that rpm, and theres a loud noise. I dont think my headers are hitting the heat shield. I had it installed at a shop because my bolts were too rusty
Try this - go under the car and disconnect the hanger by the flex pipe. When my XS headers were put on, they resonated / vibrated / rattled very loud around the 2500 RPM range. I discovered it was coming from the whole exhaust system, and when I disconnected the hanger by the flex pipe, the problem was fixed.
I would not recommend leaving the hanger disconnected however, as that puts lots of stress on the headers and can cause the pipes to crack (I learned the hard way). Instead, if the hanger is your problem, have a shop weld a new hanger to a different part of the exhaust piping maybe a little further down from the flex pipe. I had that done as well, and I get minimal resonance now.
