WELL, Im glad that you have been that lucky, but i even had a mechanic loosen them and inspect them, and they said they were perfectly installed and so did the exhaust shop last week...So, i dont know what to say brother. Most on here say they are buzzy at the collector or flex pipe, so i guess im one of the unlucky ones...

here ya go guys..millions of people and their reviews:

Had mine for several years. Originally had some noise from the headers, but after having to replace 2 exhaust manifold studs, properly bolting them down, and having to use an alignment punch to get the pipes to line up better, all is well. Headers are much quieter than before, can't really tell if there is a buzzing or not.

So I got the headers yesterday to revive this thread. No six speed kink.. However the welds look pretty clean but still i have a feeling they may not be what I wanted im gonna buy some header wrap as a precaution and ill try to tackle this on Saturday, any particular brand of header wrap or no?

The biggest issue is when forced into place it causes the buzz. That is why NOTHING can be tightened up till all pieces are bolted together. that includes the manifolds. Also if the hanger isnt in place it will cause it as well. i have read more with luck than those with bad luck on them. Hell i have over 200k on mine. Still going strong other than me replacing the flex pipe once.

Just for clarification, the real XS-P headers that Fatty is talking about is no longer available. It looks like they're just selling generics now, as their original design was a Comptech imitation.

Yeah I know, it didn't even say xs on the box i thought because i was receiving emails from xspower, it was coming from them but oh joy i was greeted by a box from SSautochrome hooray! And yeah it looks like a lovely ebay generic but my friend has a welding kit in his garage so i think ill re weld em and make sure they fit real tight. Maybe try to make them into comptech imitations or as close as i can..I'm not that confident in my abilities.

I wanted to answer a few questions that may help you after reading this thread. Adding headers to a stock exhaust won't let you see the maximum gains that changing a header can/will do. Think of it like this... you have a mcdonalds milk shack straw and you blow in it its easy thing to do because of its girth. Now attach a coffee stir straw to the mcdonalds straw and see how hard itd is to get the same volume of air as before. you can't. The is the same issue with the TL-P. The exhaust piping diameter after the header is so smakk that the new header wont gain barely anything because the exhaust flow goes back to the stock small piping. What could you do? Get a cat-back exhaust to go with those headers or get tsudo axle-back with custom piping from the cat back. Instead of seeing 10hp you see 25-30hp gain at the wheels. Exhausts arent all loud. refuse to do loud exhausts. Tsudo exhaust on your model TL is deep/mellow sound. I hope this helps.

Im not saying your wrong but I had three different 2.5"catback exhaust setup & non of them yielded the power I was looking for. If u upgrade to 2.5" you will gain more top end but loose alot of low end T/Q which our generally needs I went with stock cat back but a cutout tight after the header that way I keep the luxury, low end T/Q , and massive topend & most especially cops won't be looking @ u as a free ticket . Just my IMO

Exhaust gain mid to top-end correct but this is why you add headers to gain back the low-end and more. Add a header on stock exhaust and you loose top-end . To gain power through the entire rev range you must do intake/header/exhaust. Don't do one mod and expect to get power gains throughout the rev range is my point that I was making.

Its an electric exhaust cutout. Flip a switch and it dumps out the side bypassing the rest of the system.

That is where the primaries come together on 3cyl. That is more than large enough. The collector where the 2 come together needs to be bigger, along with the flange and the inlet and outlet of the cat. To get the best gains you need to run 2.5 from the collector to the back side of the cat.

Hey fsttyms1

Interesting reading this thread. I have had my SSAUTOCHROME headers for a several years without issue, and recently had to replace the left rear muffler due to road debris and now have noticed a distinct HUMMING when at idle - is that the 'resonation' you are referring to ? It does not change with the engine speed, or I would have suspected a bearing someplace since that is what it sounds like to me ...thanks for your opinion

this company xs power, aka ssautochrome is doing shady business-
proof? 1- read the loads of complaints against them from customers-
2- they dont reply to customer inquires- they dont care-
3- google their name for problems from previous customers-
4- they obviously dont care about updating either of their
websites- and why 2 websites for same company?
what are they hiding?
5- they are banned from ebay for unfair/illicit/unethical
business practices-
6- i have emailed them 15 times in 6 months- 1 answer-
and their answer was bullcrap- knee high stinking bullcrap
I suspect these are a bunch of inbred hillbillies smoking
each others chorizos in the barn, while stroking pieces
of shiny steel. time to buy dc sports or used comptechs.
just a few pieces of info and my opinion. oh and 1 last thing-
I hope they read these comments!!!!

I can guarantee you that they won't read that. They barely read their own email.

They have the cheapo generics for a reason.

You get what u pay for it's $100 bucks my best advise is to just upgrade the lower piping & get the top rewelded that way it will last long & if u upgrade that 2" pipe it will be better than comptech & cheaper than $1200 IMO
