XS Power Headers

XS Power Headers
I've been interested in getting a set of these and i keep visiting www.ssautochrome.com and it says they are out of stock. So I email them and finally get a response today after 5 days and they said they ARE BACK IN STOCK, they just have no updated anything lately.
So for those of you who want some knock off comptech headers, here's your chance! They are priced at $120.01 SHIPPED ($95 + $25.01 shipping). I'm not too sure if I want to jump on these or not yet because I don't know if I want my exhaust to be that loud.

Makes me want to buy a new set... As far as a butt dyno, you could "feel" it, but we all know that a lot of that is in your head.
That being said, the headers are the best bolt-on aside from a S/C for the TL-p

For those of you that have them installed on your cars: How long have you had them? How are the welds? How are the gaskets? Any leaks/cracks developed? Do they rust over time? Are they really that good for 120 bucks?
A lot of questions, but I'd like to make sure I'm not buying junk. I've heard about these headers a while back. I'd like to reconfirm their quality with any member that bought them in the past and still currently have them installed on their cars.

I'm going to give them a shot. Hopefully I'll get a good set.

I have them and they are great. They are the only headers with the bend in the pipe that will fit with a 6 speed unless you want to go custom. I have heard that the gaskets are hit and miss and I remember hearing from one person that the welds were shitty. Even if you do pay someone $50 to redo some welds they are still a steal. Whatever difference between these headers and comptech ones is definitely not worth ~$400+ (aside from the California legality).

Hmmm. Thanks for all the responses guys. I appreciate the feedback. I did look into some threads from the search results I found but there wasn't as many direct "reviews" as what you've provided me and other members with here. I wish it wasn't so "hit and miss" with the quality...

thanks for letting us know it was back in stock
i'm gonna order it next week and do what 2003TL-S did, give it to Jethot to coat the thing. 120 for stainless steel 6speed headers, can't go wrong with that

their design in regards to tubing , how it merges looks like comptech-
they are superior to obx- centuries ahead of megans t-connection disaster; if they are truly stainless steel- there are 2 kinds used for exhaust- t 304 and sus 304 ( a less expensive alloy blend currently used by Dc Sports Headers- hopefully, the gauge of tubing isnt thinner than 18 gauge( 14-16 is best ) this refers to thickness of tubing walls- thin can lead to cracking... then there are the questions of welds.. so for the money- I'd buy them, take them to an experienced welding shop, have them inspect the welds- reinforce if necessary- buy oem exhaust gaskets( metal- not cheap paper/fiber)
wrap them in thermal exhaust wrap, ( where primary pipes go down between engine/body) (reduce heat soaking) get grade 8 hardware( lower numbers have less strength ) and put them on..

dc sports are more reliable ( supposedly ) been around for years, but
at 330.00- 360.00 not cheap- but less than trump priced comptechs.
then again there are many outthere with xs headers with no problems.
My vote- its a go..if you examine the design, kinks, bottlenecks, and other restrictions of the oe exhaust manifolds and tubing- its no wonder that headers are a top choice to upgrade- just avoid the inferior crap . my 2 cents ...

There was a poll about the quality. They seem to have a problem with the flex pipe and exhaust leaks. However, some people have had no problems with them at all. I believe Fatty has had them for a LONG time with no issues.
I'm going to give them a shot. Hopefully I'll get a good set.

I've had my Stone Headers (ssautochrome) for a solid 6 years now. Awesome headers. Back then they were $300+ though. The quality was very good. I'm thinking better than the newer branded XSPower Headers, on average. I'd buy the XSPower's if I had to. It sounds a little sketchy until someone gets a set from them though.
