Post Xephyr CAI

What is Xephyr CAI and how much extra HP can it add? Is it worth it?

Xephyr is actually Chris from acura-cl.com. He started his own business and one of the products was a CAI for the CL/TL and BMW's. The guys at the CL board love the intake. It's a great alternative to AEM and some other manufacturers. It's not that expensive, and from what i've heard, easy to install (even if you've never been under your hood before). Visit his website or stop by the CL forum. He has posted dyno slips as well as other time measurements. I know I will be getting one once I upgrade my car this summer!!

He was actually at the meet Saturday, selling them and helping them with the installs. Some members here actually prefer the AEM for our TLs.

The bi-pass valve is nothing but a rip off gimmick.

Cool

I was the first guinea pig who got his installed at the NJ MEET on Saturday.

I LOVE the way it sounds and I DO feel the extra power.
It is well worth the money in my humble opinion.

As for the bypass valve, if you don’t think a 39-dollar valve is worth the money to help protect your 5,000 PLUS dollar engine, there is no convincing you otherwise.

According to Jens at Saturday's meet... (I'm paraphrasing)

1 Cup Of Water
+ 1 Cold Air Intake
- 1 Bi-Pass Valve
====
1 Blown Engine

$39 doesn't seem like a lot of money anymore I hope.

sure, it works but only a complete dumbass would buy it. The only way your intake will suck in water is if most of the filter is submerged in water. Only a retard driving through 2 foot puddles could make this happen. A lot of idiots seem to get the common misconception that driving in the rain will make your intake suck up water. Water is more dense than air, in addition a lot of people are pretty dense.

It's both actually... it's sold as a CAI, but you can detach the "lower" portion and make it a short ram if you'd like. I think everyone has left it as a CAI setup. Either way, it's still a good deal, comes with the bypass, and is cheaper then the AEM w/o the bypass. To each their own......

Uh... actually rice it depends where you live. I wouldn't jump to conclusions. I've heard of people ruining their motor that way. In parts of North houston, they are in a flood area. it rains a lot and water can get high. for 40 bucks i think you're a retard NOT to get it if you can spend 200 or whatever for the CAI.
