Wrinkled window trim

Wrinkled window trim
Will have the right rear door exterior window frame tape covering replaced under warranty next week. The window frame is an integeral part of the door and not replaceable. The tape covering gets replaced. The dealer is jobbing this out to a window tint shop. Has anyone else had this problem? This is a pretty cheezy design for a Honda/Acura.

This is a common problem and subject to a service bulletin from Acura.I do this repair right here at our shop (major pain in the *ss)and it tkaes time and patience to do correctly.Allow your dealer the time it takes and all will be well. The reason it is done like tha is probably a cost control deal more than anything else.rather than mask prep and paint each door for black hi gloss paint it is much less labor intensive to simply apply a decal.Believe it or not many manufacturers are using this technique which allows money to be spent in more interestin areas of the car.Jens

I noticed this on my front passenger side door also. Never really paid too much attention to it till now. I'll make sure to mention this when I bring her in for the 15k checkup in 2 weeks.

I think mine is wrinkled too!
its the left side back door, and I just noticed it after getting my windows tinted. I thought the installer scratched up my door or something, and was about to go back, until I read about it on these forums.. Good thing I didnt go back and blame him for something he didnt do, how embarrasing would that be?

Couldnt help noticing that you have a V1 in your sig. Is your tint metallic? If so, I would like to hear about your experience with side and rear detection, as that was my main concern about not worrying about directional arrows.

I do have a V1, and yes, my tint is metallic, but I'm not able to tell you if it has affected it any, because I got the V1 only one day before I had the tint installed.
I hear it is very much affected, but again, I wouldnt be able to tell you what the difference is.
I had actually posted this in the TL discussion under "tint sunroof-silly?" but unfortunately no one responded to my question about how much the V1 is affected by tint.
