Wow, I hit a coyote on the highway. How much will this cost?
Hey there. I've lurked for a little while, but after last night, I had to register to get some input.
I was driving down I-10 outside of San Antonio late last night, when I smashed into a large coyote trotting down the lane. I literally had zero seconds to react.
Well, these are the results...
Does anyone have an idea as to how much this is going to cost to repair. My insurance deductible is $500, so it be great if there as a cheaper fix.
Thanks guys, and watch out for wild dogs!

It's just the bumper cover ... easy to replace ... i have a book mark at home where you can order any part for a TL ... i'd guess under $500 for sure. I'll follow up later today.

I guess the paint job would cost more than the bumper.

Easiest way to go about it is to buy a whole new front bumper
another option would be to get the body shop to even out the gouge/dent and fill the back with Plastic adhesive. Then do the same with the front. After the plastic adhesive is on, it could be sanded down and bondo can be applied for a smoother finish.
Seems like too much work and money for the Bodyshop so the best option for them is just to ask you to purchase a new bumper.
I do like the option of getting a lip to cover it

Ask a body shop how much to paint ... you can install it yourself ... or come up to austin and i'll help you do it.

the only good thing about doing this with the insurance is not having to pay for the new lip yourself........plus the work.......but is it worth putting in a claim

And then there's the hassle factor of finding the part, getting it painted and installing it.
Anyway, it's just something to think about.

So if I purchased the bumper from Acura Parts, I would have to buy a lip as well?
It's looking like I might just take it to my acura dealer and say fix it.
Would this just need a new paint job?

That bumper need alot more than just paint. Its damaged and not worth it. It would cost more in labor to repair that then it would for what your saving.
