Worn Steering Wheel replaced 4 free
Just a heads up for those of you that may have a worn steering wheel. I just got mine replaced for free under warranty. I noticed the other day that my wheel was showing some wear at the top where I hold it and mentioned it to the service advisor at my local dealer and he said that it was not unusual for Honda/Acura wheels to wear like that. I told him that I wanted it replaced and they agreed. The new wheel is perfect and they even left the protective plastic on it for me to remove. Sweet!
For those of you under 50K with worn steering wheels, go get a new one for free.

Well, if my extended AcuraCare warranty would replace it, then I'd definitely do it. I don't see steering wheel on the list of covered items, but I guess it could be considered part of the steering column?

Pissed me off too. The AcuraCare guy couldn't point to any specific exclsusion, but he said it's like the volume button on the steering wheel. You use it often but they don't replace the button if the white arrow wears off, but if the button stops working that would be replaced. The wearing of the leather on the wheel is considered normal, cosmetic wear, and thus is not covered. *sigh*

Damn, with all the wood wheels I put on I had many perfect new leather steering wheels lying around.
They piled up so I threw them out. New I think they're like $250. Doohh!

But what do you mean by "worn steering wheel"?
Is that broken or what?
Also my car is 02 but it is under 50000km plus I bought a package for the warranty called ACURA PLUS....Will my car still under Warrenty?

Worn is referring to the condition of the leather on the steering wheel. Mine has developed wear spots on the couple of areas where I rest my hand the most. AcuraCare considers this upholstery, or a cosmetic trim piece, which isn't covered under the service contract. Now I'd like a cheap OEM replacement wheel or a decent deal on a wood wheel. $300 for wood is just crazy to me; it's not like my current wheel doesn't work. Also, for those replacing current wheels with wood wheels, I've seen someone on the board selling those takeoffs for $50, not $250! So, if anyone has a lead on a beige wheel that fits a '00 TL, I'm interested.

So it's not REALLY wood? Or is it normal wood with a "stained-look" sticker wrapped around it? That seems to make it worth even LESS than the $350 I'm seeing all over. I'd have been pissed to order online then find that out.

i don't even think it's wood...the surface feels good, smooth and solid.....it doesn't feel cheap or anything....only way i found out is i held it to my eye....and saw the coarse design...
