Wooshing sound from intake
Wooshing sound from intake
I am getting a sound from my intake when I have the accelerator down at a certain point. It's not when I'm at a certain RPM, but rather when I am at a certain point on the gas, from about 1/4-1/3 of the way down. I have tightened everything down and made sure that all of the clamps that connect it to the TB, the clamps on the coupler that connects the two pieces, and the clamps attaching the filter are all tight, but I am still getting the noise.
I am thinking it is from the two connections on the rubber sleeve that connects the pipe to the TB. My question is, what kind of adhesive or sealer does everything think will work? I was thinking about picking up some JB weld because I would think that that would work on sealing the rubber to the two connections that are in it. I will take a picture later when I get home from class to show exactly what I'm talking about.

Dont JB weld anything!
Find the real source-
spray carb cleaner on all the vac connection points
If the engine speed changes- you found a leak
It is possible for a hose clamp to be too tight and cause a leak that way too

i have the same thing, i was under the impression it was the air moving really fast over the butterfly. the stock intake makes the sound silent with the resonators. if i hold the gas pedel slightly down it makes a whoosh, and sometimes a pshhh like a turbo
i like the sound. everything is as tight as can be, no leaks.

I'm gonna go take a picture.
P.S. AND I also have the resonance at just below 2K and from 26-2800 RPMS from the XS headers.

Yea that is exactly the sound I am talking about you described it better than me.
I wasn't going to JB weld any of the car's parts to the intake just make the actual connections on the intake a tighter seal.
I'm gonna go take a picture.

my injen cai intake on my tsx has a whistle-like sound when the throttle is barely open, kinda like a turbo as mentioned above. i'm pretty sure thats normal though and it's just the sound of a small amount of air moving through the intake. to take it into a different perspective, try whistling with your mouth. once you get a good whistle going just increase the amount of air you blow without moving your lips...see, the whistle is gone and turns into a louder whoosh, just like what happens when you increase throttle and more air is sucked into the filter. don't do anything that could possible be permanently damaging trying to fix it! if you dont want the whistle, put the stock intake back on and you won't hear it anymore because of the resonator and way the filter is.
