woohoo! got my TL today...

too much waiting! this morning, i flew to dallas and picked up my new 2003 TL this afternoon. silver w/black leather & protection package.

couldn't afford the S but it's all good. i'm happy as hell and proud to finally be a TL owner.

5 days here to relax...somewhat dread the drive back to chicago.

cheers!!!

haha...

haha yeah i bought it down here in dallas for various reasons (insurance, taxes, etc...had the ability to do that, phew!)...

the drive back will be nice in a new car, but it's still 1000 miles to drive and 1000 miles sucks solo! no friends could get off work long enough to come down here w/me. boo to that sh*t.

also, the dealer told me no cruise control until after i've driven 600 miles. if that's true, no cruise for the trip's also going to make it a bear and probably cause me to go insanely fast.

burnin' dallas all week. later,

I wouldn't recommend long distance driving in a new car. That's too much on a new engine.

yeah that's what i worry about - driving a new car for 1000 miles right off the lot.

as far as 4500 limit....sheeeet, i guess i shouldn't have burned some cats on central expy today haha. couldn't resist and they were in my way. sportshift does pay off, apparently.

i'm going to take it easy though. i really don't think this whole new car thing has sunk in just yet.

i took some pics already but i haven't posted them anywhere and the cpu i'm on has no editor...they're like 2mb each. d'oh.

lata,

Congrats and welcome to the family. If it's any consolation, I'm driving 1300 miles to Denver the week after next for a convention (too paranoid to fly after 9/11:yack: and yes, I admit I'm a wuss), and my wife can't come with. Driving alone blows.

Just out of curiosity what happens if u drive a new car to lets say around 6500rpm's My sister just got a RSX and it has 290 miles on it and I used it on a highway trip and today I used sports shift and in the RSX it dosent shift to 2nd like are TL's do. So I was in 1st and shifted to 2nd at about 6800 to 7000 rpms. Any long run damage.

No Doubt! By the way what were you running in tires when you had your 18's and what was the width of the rims in that size?

you should buy a front bra for your car to protect it for long trip back.

make sure you fluctuate your speed every 5 minutes or so...like give it gas alittle and then slow down to maybe 60 miles or so and then raise it to 70-80 miles by pressing the gas slightly and do that every now and then...it helps to seat the rings in...

...

yeah silver is by far the best color =)

my final price was $27,500 i believe. i grabbed it on an option program so i don't really care. basically, i just wobbled between dealers barking about monthly payment. that's all i really care about.

maybe i'll hit up david mcdavid acura on saturday and see about getting a bra. i got my car at goodson acura (irving, tx) but i don't wanna drive all the way back out to irving for a bra.

i'm loving this car though. i still can't really believe it's mine; i'm not sure if it's ever actually going to sink in. first time i've ever had a *new* car.

pretty funny though; my dad already decided to buy one too, so he's going back in a few months to get one. just glad he didn't try to steal mine...

...dreading the drive back to chi on monday,

A drive out price of 27,500 is a steal for an Acura TL-P!! What do you get with the protection package?

When I got my TL, I hit the gas the very first day...who knows I might regret it one day

Congrats on the purchase. I also bought a silver 2003 Acura TL-S, and picked it up today! I had a '86 Honda Accord that just won't die. Hopefully this will last me just as long... or atleast until I upgrade. I was a little worried about people talking about having their trannies go, but figured I'd take my chance.

BTW this is my first post.

i didn't know it came w/that package until i picked it up. it includes wheel locks, mud guards, cargo net and trunk protector. i'm not sure what else if anything.

the two funniest things for me were that a) i didn't know the '03 sideview mirrors were blue. nice addition to stock though since so many older-model owners had to tint theirs. and b) i didn't know the right sideview mirror tilted when you put it in reverse. i musta looked pretty damn funny in the mall parking lot trying to figure out why my mirror kept moving haha.

i'm back in chicago now. i drove about 300 miles in dallas and then another 960 from dallas back to chicago on monday and tuesday. i'm already over 1300 miles and i've had it for 5 days!!!

lovin' it though...later y'all

Didn't know that either...I better look more closely

another 960 from dallas back to chicago
Did you drive with a nose mask? If not, you better wash your baby asap...all those dead insects, dirt could damage the paint...

My friend, who is looking to buy a TL-P 2003 called Goodson Acura and was given a quote of $30,500drive out . They said that there was no way they could sell an acura for 27,500 drive out as that was below cost...

Heys guys, I just picked up my 2003 TL-P too!!, which I love by the way, wife likes it more than I do, which is a plus. I went for the 2003 Anthracite, I have already updated the rims to late 2002 Type-S (has the new rim lip vs. the flat curb beater lip). I have also installed 3" exhaust tips. Now that I have sold the stock 16" tires and wheels, I'm going for the rear spoiler and windowing tinting. All thats left is Comptech Springs.
