Woodtrim
yes i am waiting for it to arrive this week. Its made by NYCDASHES.com. I dont intend on using every piece in the kit however, and will probably skip the two big pieces that flank the gauge cluster. I will leave that part of the dash black, and contrast it with an all wood center console (I have the tan interior btw.)

2002AcuraTL,
How was the sood dash kit you got from them.
I just ordered mine yesterday, before I found these posts.
I'm not sure if I made the right move...I think some people are saying that the kit is not a complete OEM match?
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks

Ditto, ordered from this site, very good match. Didn't use all the pieces. I did do the ones that flank the gauges, but didn't opt to do the pieces that surround the gauges (not part of this kit)
check out www.motorgear.com and get one of the other finishes that they have available.

I just got mine from them as well.
I don't think the color is that off, but you are right, they are not a GREAT match by any means.
It really depends on the light, but you can really tell where the original Plood meets the NYDashes one...like around the gear ****ft and cup holder area.
Also, the material seems kinda "soft" to me. It doesn't have that hard plastic feel to it.
Is there anyway I can take pieces off once they are attached?
Just in case I end up not liking it.
I'm still mixed about what to put on.Using all the pieces is definitely over kill. I was thinking use the gauge cluster pieces but not use the one for Stereo.
No way am I going to use the one that covers the silver looking gear shift part...I happen to really like that touch of silver over there!
I guess you get what you paied for...

Yeah you can always get it off by heating it up a bit with a hair dryer first. its just 3M doublesided adhesive holding it on. DO NOT use a heat gun - it will get too hot and you'll melt, or the the very least deform, the dash.

The 'wood' on the side of the center console and the wood on the doors is MORE than enough ... i've seen pics of TL's with the wood around the vents and i must say ... *vomit*

How would I get off the goo that willbe left behind?
Do you have any recommended products to get that crap off?
I guess we all have our preferences!
I do think using all the pieces is definitely overkill.
I did like the black parts of the car, but it's a bit boring to me.
I like the plood around the AC "vents"....
I have all wootrim on my MDX, I bought it that way. almost perfect match and the material is the same as the OEM. Looks great. In fact I got so used to seeing that way and being that I bought it that way, when I see a regular MDX, I'm like, what happened there?
But the MDX is in a different league.
TL is more like a budget entry level luxury car...interior is kinda cheap...and I guess putting too much plood gives off the impression of trying too hard to make the car something that it is not!!!
That said, I wish I shelled out $50 more to get the kit from this site, instead of NYDashes.
I will check my install out again, but from what I saw last evening (with not too much sun light) I can see that it's not a great match.
At least I can take the thing off...as long as someone tells me what to use to get the goo off!!!

The best chemical to use is a product called CitriSolv. SOmewhat hard to find, but works better than any other citrus cleaner out there. Unlike most citrus based cleaners that are cut with alcohol, this stuff is very potent and works on everything. just dont use Goof-Off because that might take the black paint off the dash. (yes there is paint on the dash. If you look at it closely, its not really just black ABS, there is tiny gold flecks in it)
I took a look at my install (only a few peices thank goodness) today in good sun light.
You are right, it's not a perfect match...in fact it's not even close...the grain pattern, color, not too good.
Mine is also from NYDashes off of Ebay. Paid $100+ for it.
I decided to peel them off...I guess being that I only had them on there for a day it was very easy to peel off.
I kinda like the look of the "boring" black plastic now...I think if the plood was better looking (like Lexus) it would have been nice, but as I was putting the pieces on I was thinking "Man this looks tacky...too much plood." I think it would have been better if it was a close match. But now I am completely turned off by the mere concept of all this.
So I moved on to my other project...putting my OEM style spoiler on. I drilled my holes and applied touch-up paint. Tomorrow I am going to attach the spoiler and hopefully splice the brake light.
I'm hoping that goes better than the wood trim!!!
So is the wood trim kit on this site the best one with the best match out there??? I may be interested in the future...

Yep...I did the touch up and clear coat already.
Tomorrow I will be attaching the spoiler and using silicone caulk.
My only issue is how to route the spoiler brake light wire to the third brake light wire harness in the trunk and make it look stealth. I see that the third brake light harness comes from behind the steel chassis right around where the sub-woofer is. My plan is to splice and not cut the wire. I will strip the rubber around the wire then splice the spoiler wire and wrap it with electric tape.
Hey BTW, I paid $128 for the NYDashes kit...oh well...I guess I'll take a hit for that.
I see that JoshuaTree's kit is twice as much. I get the impression that their kits are made out of real wood. Do you know if this is true?
Do you have any links to posts decribing/reviewing the kit from them?

do a search on this board for reviews of the JoshuaTree kit. Thats where i read about it.
As for running the wire, you will see a wiring harness already on the left side of the trunk hinge. Run your spoiler 3rd brakelight along with these other wires. As for hooking it up to the existing 3rd brakelight, I ran the wire carefully and its totally concealed. I disconnected the existing 3rd brake lights by removing the bulbs. It seemed like overkill to have them and the spoiler brakelight.

OK. Went to JoshuaTree (www.woodtrim.com) and order one while they are still on sale...today is their last day. $234.
They have a money back guarantee so I'll dry fit the kit and see if I like the match.
Supposidly they are made out of real wood...no?

Good deal that it happened to be on sale until tonight! I dunno about the real wood vs. synthetic wood for their kits. IF you read the site info carefully, they talk about using both. Since the OEM stuff is fake, I would think that a real wood (although it would be nicer but for the rest of the fake stuff already inthe car) trim wouldnt match.
Try http://www.edashkit.com , i bought my kit from there and was hapopy with the results. I would have bought it from this site but edashkit gave me a couple of more pieces.
