Winter driving
found out a couple of interesting things this weekend when putting my rims back on... apparently the mille miglias that tire rack lists as 8x17 are actually 8.5x17, i found this out because i ordred a couple of replacement rims and they came in their boxes which list the real size, so i then had the shop verify that they are in fact 8.5" wide... which is pretty cool, but i find it strange why they dont specify this... i also found out thanks to the snowfall that we had in the tri-state area, that ultra high performance tires, namely the potenza bridgestones that i have mounted, perform as well in the snow as regular stock tires or even the pirelli p7000ss, so while i'll still be ordering snow tires for going up to the mountains, its good to know that the potenzas can get me through 5" of snow and ice... just wanted to share
We just put those Tires on my GF's A4 to replace her worn out Dunlops and they are really great in the snow. Excellent traction and braking, car feels very stable. My car is still stock but I was surprised how well it handles in the snow. Maybe one of the best cars i have ever owned as far as winter driving is concerned.
