How do i remove the inside windshield mirror on my 1999 tl? Don't see screws, alan head nuts, nothing!

 

if you are talking about the rear view mirror, do a search, there is a HUGE thread on mirror explosions and there is a diy on how to replace it. magna donnelly was replacing mirrors for free last i heard, they took care of mine in 2006. search is your friend.

 

the free replacement by maker M/D is a thing of the past

You have to buy one from the dealer but they will negotiate down to under 100 for most cases. Used units online are the old style with the leak problem

Its a couple of screws inside the overhead light panel and then you get to the mirror screws
There is a hidden retainer clip inside it!!- see details- do not wiggle---release holder and it slides DOWN and off

 

Be very careful that you don't apply too much load when you're installing or removing the mirror. Several forum members have cracked their windshields and that's an expensive mistake.

 

If you already ordered the new mirror, take a look at the back and you'll see the clips. To remove the mirror you'll have to take off the two small plastic covers and gently tap the base of the mirror down towards the dash until the mirror comes off. I just replaced mine this week and this is how I got the old mirror off. Just takes a little patience..don't twist or apply too much pressure.

DO NOT TWIST or you will crack the windshield
