Question Window Tinting

Maine has a 50% Law, does anyone know if that is even worth getting tinted. $229 for all 4 and the Back? Good/Bad?

Also, what are some things to consider before chosing a window tinter?

Help!!!

Well I go to places that friends or family that have been to along with whose the cheapest. I have 20% mirror tint all around and only paid $150. Just depends on what kind of film you choose and which windown tinting place you go to.

I live in san diego, CA...i was wondering what the law around here was for tinting, and what were good places to get tinted were...I'm sure it's a 35% law...that's quite dark already. What should one look for when getting their windows tinted? I want to get titanium tint....Thx a lot for all the help. This forum rocks!

Someone in my office teaches traffic school on weekends. She says that in Cali, all add-on tint, i.e., film, is illegal. Factory tint which impairs visibility (dark tint) is legal only on the rear windshield and rear windows. Dark tint is illegal on driver and passenger side windows, however, clear UV protectant is legal. She didn't mention whether there are medical exceptions, but that would make sense. She said law enforcement's primary concern regarding tint right now is not the driver's visibility but their own safety when they pull someone over. They want to be able to see weapons.

Yeah I just got 20% tint all around and I can tell you that it is DARK, I belive due to the tint already on the windows from the factory. Anyhow, I think it looks great, but would go 35% if I did it again.

I paid 150 after a discount, 170 regular price.

50% is a decent amount, since the window already has a little amount of tint to it it would make it darker than a clear window with 50%.

As much as I want to tint my car, i'm very paranoid about tints, as far as bubbles, lines etc.. I notice EVERYTHING and it would drive me nuts if the tint wasn't perfect..

If you go to a reputable tint shop, they will give you a five year guarantee. So you don't have to worry about bubbles and fading. I put 25% on my rear window and back doors and 35% on the front doors.

As long as you go lighter in the front, you should be fine. If you got 20-25% all the way around it becomes too obvious, and cops get pissed off.

Also, if you ever get pulled over for a moving violation, ROLL DOWN YOUR WINDOWS IMMEDIATELY, BEFORE THE COP HAS A CHANCE TO NOTICE THE TINT!

Tinting looks so much nicer on the TL, and it keeps the car so cool.

Plus, you can pick your nose in privacy.

If you are bagged for a moving violation chances are he/she already noticed the tint, cause they tried to see who you were after you broke the law.

In response to your question about the 50% tint.I have 51% tint on my Black/Ebony TL I have it on the rear & all side windows. I had to do this because of stupid DC. Laws. Its worth getting because it will cut glare & reduce heat also. DC. law will only let you have 50% on the rear & 75% on the side. I just will take it off when I go thru DC. Inspection every 2yrs. Cops here don't even mess with you for that small amout of tint. We already have the heat rejecting green glass in our cars from the factory. There are some pictures of the TL Meet for DC,MD,VA on this Forum do a search it will have a pictures of my car along with other TL & Cl Type-S models. My car is the 3rd from the your left so you can see the tint. Phi has the white TL no tint next to him Drizzay has the Black Type-S with no tint mine is the Black TL next to him with 51% & Queit is next with the Red TL with 35% Tint.

I got %35 all around two weeks ago on a DEP and it looks awesome. Just right. I do not know what NY law is but I have been right next to cops and they have not looked at me. If you do not want it too dark then you should consider %50 because of the tint of our windows already. 35 can look dark in dim light, but looks great on a sunny day.

oops! Paid $175 for all five windows. Go to a custom audio shop that has a window guy and look at cars at the shop as they get done before you bring yours in. Also you can talk to people to see if they are happy with the job. It takes 5-7 days for it to dry and look right. Looks bad for a while then looks great. Do not open or clean for 3 to 5 days after job. No ammonia.

Maine Law is 50% and I'm going to stick with that because I don't even want the hassel of having to take it out..
