window tint ?'s

Im going to get my frp 99 tl tinted tomorrow and i was wondering if i should go charcoal or metallic. Also, I live in oregon and its cold and crappy here all the time, so it will prob take a long time for the glue to set, would it be a good idea to just crank my heat up a lot to make it set faster, or will this possibly distort or ruin my tint?

I would get at minimum 20% charcoal tint, but personally think 5% is the best way to go. I just got my windows tinted with the high being about 40, it took 5 days for the horrid smell to go away but they set in like 2 days.

Reflective tint is and ugly. Go with black. Mine are 15% on sides and rear, and 35% on the windshield.

Go with charcoal it will look a lot better. 20% should do, but the 5% looks hella sick.
Just as 02type-s stated the metallic tint is weak don't disrespect the TL like that. Once you see the red and blue metallic tint you won't wanna look at it again, shits horrible.

dang, i wish i could go that dark, 35% is darkest allowed in oregon. and i already have reputation with the local cops here so i don't want to risk it.

btw: wqill 35% give me enough privacy, at night at least?

i have 20% all around and the legal limit in New York is definetly not 20% (I think its something stupid like 50%) but they have not bothered me and I have had them for over a year now. & you won't be able to see in @ 20% at night...during the day you can in the front but not always in the back

I'm fpr and I have 30% or 35% and its not dark enough. You will definitely have privacy at night without overhead lights, but I wish mine were darker during the daytime. If I were to do it over again, I'd go with 25%.

ok thanks man thats been a big help. well according to this site my back window and the 2 side windows on the back door are 20% and the front is between 30-40 so i guessing 35. but even with the 35 in the front you have to look realy good to see any kind of detail on my face, and at nigth only the outline of a person sitting there so thats good enought for me. plus 2 dark all the way around is kind of dangerous in the dark parking lots and when reversing lol

I have 20% sides + back ... probably not "legal" in Ontario (depending on the officer who pulls you over). Very dark at night if there are no streetlights around ... but definitely gives you privacy.

If I could go back, I would probably do 35% all around such that it's easier to see at night (wife hates how dark the tint is) so I'll probably go that route with my new car. And you being in Oregon ... a lot less sunny days than those in the South ...

yeah i got 20% yesterday all round. I had to sign a waver saying that my car would be used only as a show car. looks nice, but you can still see through it easily, i was kinda hoping for a little more privacy
