Wife crashes new TL-S with less than 2k miles
Rant!
Ughh! Makes me sick. She used to drive nice and slow, because she drove a little 4 cyl Honda with 80hp.
She was following a SUV to close, the SUV swerved at last minute, And in front of her was a barricade, for lane construction, and a total lack of lane there of, just gridiron. Destroyed the hood, the front bumper, both head lamps, both fenders, windshield, both mirrors, broke all four rims, even one of the tail lights got torn up. This was after I had just put on 3m Protectant film on the car and having parked it way out everytime to keep the door dings out.. It hasn't even had an oil change yet..
Blah..

Three Wheelin'
I hate that maneuver. I feel for anyone caught in that position.
Even at safe traveling distances, that usually ends up in an accident.
It's one thing breaking in time for a car that slams it's breaks.
But, its near impossible to stop for something that's not moving.
good luck, hope everything goes ok.

Geez no offense but...
Yeah I think the most important part of that story would be the status of your wife's health after the accident but that was sadly missing.
Hope she is ok - the car can be fixed/replaced.

Where did the accident happen? Heh, and I was all lookin' forward to puttin' in your brake lines since you helped me out. Well, from the sounds of it, that car is gonna be totaled out. Any ideas what you're gonna get next?

It happened in Plano, she was just fine. It is so frustrating! But I have wrecked my share of cars in my day too.. So I can't get mad!
The rim damage came from the car dropping a foot 1/2 into the area where they are going to lay a road, they had all of this grid iron down to reinforce the concrete that has not been poured yet. The damage would have been a lot less if she had *only* hit the simple 2x4 barricade. I don't think they will total it, after seeing how badly twisted some other cars on here have been. Most of the damage is from the iron rods twisting up and lacerating the car. Do any of the Dallas area dealers have an actual working body shop?

David McDavid in Plano does. They repainted my front and back bumper. It looked good when I first got it back. But when I looked closely, you could tell body work had been done. The bumpers were misaligned, and the wheel well doesn't wrap around the bumper like its supposed to. My passenger side headlight now gets fogged up after I wash it. Ohh, and they also got spray paint on the black part of the front bumper. They charged me an assload of money, and I paid out of pocket. Lets just say I won't be taking it back there again. Ohh, and on top, they were a week late with my delivery. Maybe others have had good experiences with them, but not me.

Ouch!!!!!!!!
Sorry to hear about the car, but as everyone else said glad to hear your wife is ok. Its ounds like the accident could have been much worse as anything could have been in her path. Many here love their cars and hate it when they get scratched, dinged, whatever, me included. I am as anal retentive as they come in regards to keeping the car immaculate, but in the end, a car is just that a car which can be repaired/replaced. The same cant be said for the safety and health of a loved one.

Likewise, I am glad to hear that your wife if ok, and its unfortunate to see such a nice car go through that type of damage, but hopefully out of all of this you'll remember to mention to your wife, we drive very fast and nice automobiles, and there needs to be a level of RESPECT when operating such a machine, so hopefully the lesson learned is to not tail gate at high speeds, much less behind a blinding SUV.

That's reall sh*tty, man
It's too bad about your car...but it can be replaced/repaired
Just glad to hear you wife is okay....hopefully she'll be a little more cautious when she's driving. Following too closely seems harmless enough until something like this happens.
