Widest Tires for TL-S
Ok i'm reading the rim width on the new Type-s is 17.0x7.0 The car however only comes with 215's. my rims on my current car are 7.0 and I have 235's on them. If I put Dunlop Sport 5000's )on the Type S when I get it) in a 235 or 245 would that be bad for the suspension and handling and effect the control arm or will that be fine for the 7.0 rim width. Thanks, Anthony

US TL-S rims are 17x6.5".
Canadian TL-S rims are 17x7".
Don't ask me why because I don't know !!

I've got the CL-S rims on my 01TL and they are 17x7 (like the canadians). There are many people on this site that have the same as I do on their TLs and not a single problem...they feel amazing on the road and look even better!
17x6.5 in U.S. is an interesting choice, but maybe they're just being overly cautious. I called two Acura dealers in southern Cal before buying my CL-S wheels and confirmed they would fit on my TL....whatever! The Canadians are much more relaxed on certain regulations.

Having test driven the car last night in Toronto, I loved the suspension. If the wheels size of 17"x7" had anything to do with it, then there is a Canadian advantage to the car.

I think the biggest problem you would have with a wheel that is 235 or 245 in width is that they might rub on the fenders during sharp turns. Also if the wheels are only 6.5 inches wide like people say, I don't think anything bigger than a 225 would fit onn the wheel.

Yeah my car's rims was 6.5 stock and the most we could put was 225's that were 91W. The standard max for 6.5's is 225. I wasn't aware that the TL was only 6.5 so in that case most I can do is 225's again. But I really wanted the 7.0 just because i could get those Dunlop Sport 9000's at 245/45ZR/17
Oh Well
