Why No Chip for the TL?

Hi,

I was wondering why there is no chip for the TL? I see A4's, and Jetta, Passat's have them. As well as other vehicles' Is there a technical reason whhy we can not use chip or on has not been produced? I have read about the MMII mod that will be out soon, that sounds like an ECU add on.

Is the TL not made for a chip?

Thanks,

Mark

Just an assumption but......I think that the TL-S already has a chip in it. It is the same engine as the TL-P but more horse power. Also most of those other cars might have a turbo or something of the sort. Don't flame me if I'm wrong....just an assumptions

Well I can tell you for sure that there is no chip in the TL-S, it's engine is just tuned differently like bigger throttle body and whatnot....I wish they had a chip out for the TL and TL-S!

I think Honda/Acura has made it much more difficult to modify the ECU mapping on their chips. Automakers too used to use discrete Flash/EEPROM memory to store their mappings, but these days custom ASICs are used more and more. These are nonstandard parts and can't easily be snooped.
