why does Z2 smear?
why does Z2 smear?
Hi,
I got Zaino a few days ago and the stuff is amazing. I have been using Z5 and the stuff has been coming off pretty easily. When I switch to Z2, it smear a lot. What am I doing wrong?
thx

A couple of things to consider...
Are you giving it enough time to dry considering it may be really humid where you are?
You you using clean towels to remove?
Did you allow your car to completely dry before applying the z2?

If TLinKC's observations don't apply, then you should call Sal and get his opinion. You should not get smearing unless it is not fully dried when you try to remove it.
Maybe you have some surface contamination, or got a bad batch of Z2?

Thx for the info.
I didn't wait the require 24hrs between coat. I couldn't wait. I only waited 12 or so hrs.
Do u guys also think the reason it smear is b/c I didn't put enough of the z2 on?

Probably too much Z2 will cause smearing. But I'm not too sure because I always get smearing no matter how little I put on, how long I let it dry, or how clean my towel is. Maybe Zaino's quality control isn't where it should be and some lots smear more than others.

It is called polymerization. It ids almost impossible to get a uniform application of a polymer by hand application.
Here is what I have found:
1) Make sure it is very dry - you can even use a heat lamp at a resonable distance
2) I prefer to apply with foam applicators - they apply a more uniform film and less is absorbed into the foam than the terry applicator
3) After you remove Z-2, especially on a dark car, immediately mist the finish with the Zaino spray

Its probably a combination of too much z-2 and not enough drying time...I put on the z-2 when its hot outside. When the haze comes off with just a swipe of one finger, I know its ready to be removed.
You only need a thin coat of z-2. Try damping the applicator with some water or better yet the z-16 gloss enhancer. Then apply your z-2 onto the pad/applicator. This tip will give you the best results and keep you from putting too much product on. A little goes a long way!
