Whos tranny has not failed?

This thread is to sort of put me at ease. If your tranny has never failed and never been replaced please post here. Also state what year your TL is.

If you are referring to failing because of the transmission actually "dyinng/giving" out then I haven't had a failed transmission yet.

this question has been asked a million times. You wont get good results on the forum if your hoping that there is a chance that there are alot of people who havent.

First transmission was replaced at 42k because I was in a car accident where the car went off the road and the transmission housing was cracked so my insurance replaced the whole transmission. I have 122k on the car now so that about 80k on my current transmission thats on the car.

As others have said, do a search. Second, even if people respond, it's not going to 'put you at ease'. A little thinking, kind of like a little searching, will tell you why.

Asking the people on this forum to respond, is like asking how many people like baseball on a baseball forum. You can't draw any conclusions, even if every member responded. A very small percentage of all TL owners are on AZ.

I meant the people saying "mine hasn't failed XXXXX miles and still going strong"

Your tranny history is still mind blowing, but now you have a beautiful 6 speed.

BTW people...mine is still going strong...nope wait a minute it's dead. hehehe

Okay I'll shut up now or else my second tranny will perish.

there are thousands that havent. I know of 3 personally with more than 80k that are on the original. Forums tend to show teh worst case. 1 member drove his very hard and the tranny made it to like 175k before it died

Tranny issues?

Just recently purchased an 03 TL type S, had 38,000 miles on it, can anyone tell me if I should be concerned about all the tranny problems ive been reading about in here or is this a sporadic problem that exists?

2nd day with 03 TL-S

I just bought an 03 TL-S with 103K. The original transmission was replaced at 37K. Everything seems to be ok so far.

What percentage of driving do you use your manual mode and does this seem to accelerate transmission problems?

move it forward to shift up and backwards to shift down

You can use SS.. its fun and wont make a difference on tranny wear. Try it out

The 1999 TL that I just bought made it to 175,000 miles on the original transmission.

(Note that this is the four speed model only used on the 1999 TL. Some people feel that the four speed variant is more reliable than the five-speed model used in the 2000-2003 TLs.)

Good shit! I might get one now. Do you know like a round about percentage like 50/50 or is it the majority don't fail or the majority DO fail??

54000km no tranny problems

When i went to Acura and ask for the extended warrenty cause of all the stories of tranny failures they apperently checked my vin and said my tranny has the updated piece that was causing all the tranny problems so they told me not to worry.... i dunno if i should believe this or not, but has anyone else have this mentioned to them or even heard of a updated tranny for the TLs ?????????

I already did a search. I just found a whole bunch of threads that stated the same thing. Kind of like this one! Lol

No they are not. Of all the people who have bought TLs, how many do you think post on AZ? Here's a clue, not many. Three other people where I work own TLs. Guess what? No tranny failures. Wow.
