i love my current TL, definitely over satisfied w/everything it has to offer, (aside from HP) but i doubt i'll be interested in ANOTHER on to have for another three years.
but hey, you maybe the interior would just be so damn nice, w/such cool gadgets and features that i simply can't resist.
like TIM, i'm in if that cool blue that was in SEMA (the lexus type blue) comes out w/that cool looking half black leather half blue swade interior. i also would probably like it in black/silver swade interior like the AUDI S4... but i gotta see it in person first.
most likely i'd go for the M3 or CLK... i need more HP and a different (way differnt) car

Will wait for another year to see whether 2003 will have manual. With auto I don't see REALLY big difference in performance between 00'TL and new TLs (I test drove CLs). Then will decide between 540i (what I'm thinking now) and new 6sp TLs (if it come out). I hope for 2002/2003 BMW will update their 540 series to help me make that decision

I will probably get one eventually, but I will have to see and drive it to be sure. Maybe in the summer or next fall I will get one if I really like it.

To tell you the truth, I think im not going to get a TL-S.
Cause first of all I just bought the TL, even if you trade it in or sell it you will be losing money. Secondly, I know the TL-S has more HP, but I feel that I have enough already, I mean, I think people want the "S" cause they want to feel like they are the "king of the road." Thirdly, I have feeling it's going to be expensive, the TL was such a bargain because of those missing features and crappy tires. The TL-S is going to almost reach the price of a Bimmer, I believe.

my 2 cents

I plan on getting on, but it will be like November 2002 before I will be able to do anything......

unless I get on when my wife's lease is up on her Explorer (April 2002). I could give her my TL and get me a TL-S and transfer the mods!!! That's the ticket!

YEAH, I'm thinking real hard about it. It would have 2 be like late summer to early fall next year, but I'll enjoy my TL till then. I'll want 2 see & drive, but first I'm going 2 ck out the MDX. The dealer has one on his lot that they said they won't sell! Just for demo-ing, so I've got 2 test drive. I may also test out a CL-S if they have one, but then...I'll be soooo confused as to what to buy......

I'll go test drive the sucker, but I won't buy, as I just bought my new TL, not even 2 months, if I traded that in, I am sure to lose thousands in trade in value. Especially the way new car dealers are.

I'll get another car in 2-3 years, but I'm hoping it will be the new supra or NSX or 740IL or MB S500 by then.

Seriously getting one. Deposit is down. The rear seating position in the IS and 3-series is seriously out of wack. The new C-class is 8 to 10k more for similar features. The 5-series is about the same size, but again is about 15k more with a smaller engine. There is really not a better choice.

Gotta see it first. My decision is influenced by how many mods I have now and Comptech making a supercharger for the current TL.

Nope. I'm driving a great 5-month old car. If I was rich enought to replace a brand-new $30k car, I'd be driving a $50k car...

I agree ! Folks, I paid cash for my car and I will run my TL into the ground (8 ? 10 ? years) before thinking about replacing it.... I have made this mistake earlier about replacing a car when the next model came out with some features the previous one did not have...I cannot figure out the penchant for people to replace a superb car everytime another model comes out with a few more doodads.....maybe I am old fashioned but then my feeling is that within a few months of buying the TL-s, you will find another model in the market which has a couple more cool features.... and then will you guys dump the TL-s ?!!!

Now if you guys are replacing your TL with the BMW M5 or something, I will push you guys to GO FOR IT (assuming it falls within your budget)....but replacing the TL with the TL-s ?!!!

I was seriously thinking about a trade-in or selling my 99TL for the 2002 TL-S. But I am going to lose a lot of money. After careful consideration, I am going to keep my TL and hook it up. In a few years after I finish paying it off, I will give it to my wife. Then I should be in good shape to buy a brand new car. Maybe by then, Acura will have a 300-350 horsepower TL with all the goodies inside and a major makeover. And the NAV will cover from Alaska all the way down to the tip of South America with every address in between, including all the eskimos and people living in the forest. Or I could get a totally different car. Choices, choices, choices.....Oh shit, I was daydreaming! Oh well back to reality for now.

I plan to replace my 7 year-old Civic with the '02 TL-S. I definitely want to see the memory seat available since my wife can drive it to work during weekday and I can have it over the weekend...unless I can pursue her to drive my Sienna to work...

I hope that the look (in and out) of the TL-S won't be too aggressive or she'd prefer the regular one.

I'm SOLD!

Been holding out for one for a while now. I was so pissed during the summer when I found out that no TypeS would be out. But everything is all good now. Of course, there is that new Jag X-type... awd? Tempting...

But nah, I love Honda...
If I don't get it when it comes out, definitely at the end of the year when my lease is up.

Shouldn't this be in the new 2001 TL Type-S thread?

I'm waiting to get mine later next year.

Looking for a sports sedan and initially wanted a BMW 3-series, then a Lexus IS. But just got married and plannin on having kids soon so space is a priority. And if I can get a sports sedan with comparable performance, more room , decent gas mileage and for less money. I'm definitely in there.

After test driving the CL-S with Nav, I was sold. This was the car I wanted (but with only 2 doors) and met all my requirements. I'll let the first couple months slide by like any new release so that all the "bugs" get worked out. If that new blue color is available, plan on seeing pics of my new ride in the future.

I'm definitely gonna get a '02 TL, but I will test drive the TL-S a couple of times to make sure it's worth the extra $.

Just getting it half a year early alone is worth at least 2000 bucks in my book.

Also depends on how it looks for me. Plus, it depends how much they are marking up the car at launch. I'm going to put a deposit after the new year on it, but if the price is too nuts, I'll go with the CL-S....

Cool

I have been holding off trading in my '94 Integra for a new for a while now. I've entertained the idea of buying a Lexus IS300, 2002 Audi A4 Quattro, Infiniti I30, BMW 330xi, and of course, the Acura 3.2 TL.

The only thing holding me back was a full suite of luxury gadgets and the power. I wanted Memory Seats, 6-disc in-dash, and fogs. All of these without have to do aftermarket things to it.

Now that I have confirmed that these items will be on the TL, I am really excited and hope that I'm not let down. I'm putting a down on this car for sure! It is a great car for the money and I'm sick of 2 doors and the civic-like Integra. Let's see what happens...

Got a brand-new TL now, so no way trade for a TL-S. If anything in the near future, it will be a nicer Lexus, BMW or Benz...

In mid-November I was pretty close to buying an '01 TL. I "stumbled" across this site while researching the TL. When I read the rumors about the '02 TL-S release in March '01, I decided to delay my purchase until the rumors were either confirmed or denied. Well.... It is amazing how close the rumors were to fact regarding the setup of the TL-S. The only conjecture that seems to have been incorrect was that of 270 hp.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who posted the advance information. I ordered my TL-S last week--now March can't come fast enough. It was tough to pick a color. I went with dark emerald pearl/parchment. The d.e.p. is available only on TL-S models for '02. I think it will be a nice way to differentiate my "S" from the base TL's.

I look forward to actually seeing the car on Jan. 8 (from the promised photo postings from Detroit.) I never thought I'd ever "buy" a car without driving or seeing it first.

Man oh man... that Detroit Auto show can't come fast enough. Can't wait to see photos of the actual car.

What's this I hear about the graphite-like color only for the base TL? That sounds like the color I want and it's not available on the Type-S?!?!

Can't wait to get behind the wheel of a car. Been driving an SUV since I got my license but the damn lease on that thing runs out on Thanksgiving (01). So I might have to wait till then to get the TL-S.

Mike (Ramsey Acura) hope you got a good deal for me next Thanksgiving after the initial heat dies down. My damn friend keeps telling me that he has a hookup at that dealership in Montclair (whatever). I've done all my test drives there, and the people seem nice, but they don't look like they have any hard-core car enthusiasts working there. And they didn't really give me any information like you did. Just wish you guys were closer, around 45 minutes away from me.
