haven't decided yet. but there are two options. A) i keep this car and put crazy ass mileage on it. its not hard to when you live in a spread out city like houston.
B) get a high class car. Such as CLK, M5, 911, Or just about any mercedes E class and above.

I figure our car is the best value for the money till the 60k limit. I'm not saying that we're better than M3's (or a host of other cars between 40 and 60k)... of course not. but for me, its either all or none. i started with a .. (don't clown..) corolla when i was 16. i moved to a camry. these were hand me downs. MY first car was a prelude. then the TL. so i've covered all the lower rungs, up to sport luxury like TL. Next time its either ultra luxury or ultra sport. Or, if i feel like it and want both, i'll get the M5 currently one of my top choices. but at this point i don't see anything coming inbetween.

Dude, that is EXACTLY what I was gonna do!!

I know I'm gonna put a gripload of miles on my car and I know that it will last for a long time as well. Not only that, this is my very first brand new car I bought for myself.

I'm agreeing with you all and i think we do think alike. We're all SMART unlike lemon car owners, ahem, IS300, cough. I wanna keep this car forever cuz it was the first one i paid for and it's my baby. Still looks as shiny as the day almost two years ago when i picked it up. You don't put in that kinda work to sell it and let some idiot thrash it. By the by, I recently test drove a 540i on a track and if the M5 is anything reminiscent, I gotta start seriously doubting that car. IT SUCKED. I couldn't wait to get back to my car.

Besides, my next car is gonna be a blazin RED Supercharged S2000 with 340 hp and 200 ft-lbs. 0-60's gonna be in the 4's.

I am keeping mine because i just bought the damn car! I will probably keep it for at least 4 years before I get another car. You have to admit though, TL owners, that you cannot buy a car for around $30k with all the goodies as a standard unless it is options ie BMW, Lexus, etc. In 4-5 years, who knows what Acura will have out then. Oh yeah, I have a mortgage, wife, kids,etc....

This one is definitely a keeper. My guess is 6-7 years. I'd prefer a 5-year timespan, and my wife would prefer to keep our cars until they crumble to dust... So, it's our comprimise.

The upside is that I'm sure our next car will be even nicer than this (whatever it ends up being!) The downside is that my daughter will be drving by then. Yikes!

Keeping mines for at least eight years. It is a great car, and like some one mentioned I have a mortgage, kid, and plans to spice up my house.

I love my TL, but I get bored easily so I my guess is I will only have my TL for another year or so. On the other hand if I do some little changes to it such as exhaust, springs, sways, and wheels it might feel like a different car and I might fall in love all over again.

this car is definitely a keeper for me.
I think a lot of people have leased the car and there won't be that many TL's around. (I hope.) With all the mods that I plan on doing, it will look hot/classic even after 5,6,7 years. Besides, it drives really nice.
I am keeping this car and once I am done, I'll be getting a SUV.

I'm keeping mine.... If I had waited for the 2002's, I would have bought a Premium instead of a Type-S. I like the premium seats (what I have) a lot more than the Type-S seats. I wish they would have used the same seats from the CL Type-S, they're a lot better, especially the bottoms of them. Other than that I liked the Type-S, but I'd rather have my 2001 simply because of the seats, seat comfort goes a REALLY long ways!

I just got my car last month, and it's the first car that I've paid for myself. I will be keeping this baby for 10 years, hopefully. I plan on paying the loan off in a year or less, and putting a bit of cash away per month for my next car (Gasp! The thought of it already!)which will be as nice or nicer. Need to save money for a house too.

My first new car lasted me fifteen years. Fifteen years is a long time to have a car, its like being married you really have to love a car to keep it that long. Now that I'm divorced from my first car and remarried to my TL. It looks like its going to be another long marriage.

I'll probably keep mine for another year or two. By then I'll have maybe 100,000 miles on the TL already so it's time to move on. I'll probably get a manual for my next car, WRX, Evolution, RX-8, the new Z, etc.

Well, my other car is a 1990 Accord EX with 165,000 miles (260,000 kms) on it and it still runs great!

I bought my TL and purposely got something a little more than I should, knowing that it won't seem that extravagant in a couple of years as my salary goes up (hopefully).

I figure I would be happy with getting 12+ years on it, but this kind of thinking is rare nowadays.

Okay, the M5 is 0-60 in 4.8 and quarter in 13.2. These times match the Vettes, and this is a freaking 4 door! it has been regarded as the best luxury supercar ever made by several magazines. i'm not one to just believe the words of others, but i don't think bmw will let me test drive m5 to see for myself. But to me, the fact that it has such good torque is most important. i love torquey cars, they are just fun to drive. if the M5 disappoints you still, i don't know of any car short of a Mclaren that won't.
