Where do you guys place the essentials and how?

For me, I think the essentials would be jumper cables, tools, extra bulbs, work gloves, wheel lock key, napkins / towel, flashlight, and so on. In my Civic, I had this plastic bin with a lid that perfectly covered the entire hatchback area and that was only 4 / 5 inches tall. Now that I have a TL, I want to equip myself with the same items, but I can't figure out the best solution. Some of my friends threw all that stuff in a box and just placed it in the trunk. Unfortunately, you can hear the box moving and crashing into the sides of the trunk when taking turns or during a hard brake. I then thought that using several pieces of velcro to attach the box to a side of the trunk would be a good idea. I can't reuse that bin, because it has cracked from several years of abuse and me throwing heavy objects on top of it. Any thoughts or comments on what you guys have done? Thanks.

My 03 TL-S has 2 pouches on each side of the trunk, so I put my stuff there.

Lift up the cupholders in the center console. they actually come out and you can put someting you want to hide under there. you can also take out a little clip under the ash tray where you plug in the diagnostic thing.

There is a little plastic cover on the bottom of your steering wheel where the airbag connection is.. thats the best spot IMO but you cant fit much more than a quart

Take out the bulb in the trunk (I just found where that is) and stick it up there. No one will find it. Except trained dogs.

before school. i kept nothing in my trunk, i liked it clean.

now i have about 15 huge books and a 50 pound box of craftsman

if you really want a place to hide shit. disable your air bags and remove steering cover and hide it there.

also i place i never knew about until the cops pulled it out is under the rear seats. you can remove those seats easily by hand and alot are under there.

I thought this was so funny that I decided to go out to my car and try to find some hiding spots and this is what I came up with:

ok, behind the fuel door(not behind the cap). this may seem stupid, but how many cops actually look here and it's not hard to get to......... unless youre driving of course

How about in the fuse panel in the engine bay. Not sure if it would start a fire, but if it did turn the vent on and enjoy....... then fix car.

And last but not least, the fuse panel in the car...... not sure how to make it work...... maybe a little more obvious...... ok maybe not such a good idea.

whoah...... didn't realize how small the pics would be, sorry for that ..... but we all have the same kinda car so you know what these look lke and where their located...... ok that's enough.

You started a thread about this, which was closed, telling you to take it to Car Talk. Now you're trying to hijack this thread. What part of take it to Car Talk don't you understand?

Just go watch cops on TV. They have to have reasonable doubt or something like that. IE: Cops pull you over for speeding, and ask if you mind if they search the car. You say "yes I mind, you cant do that"(since you have weed under your seat). While he is writing your ticket, a K9 unit shows up. If they walk a drug sniffing dog by your car and the dog barks like crazy, then that is reasonable doubt…

If you dont think I am correct or want to talk further about it, please take it to car talk or watch cops on tv.

And like the other guy said... why were cops looking under your back seats?

P.S. If a cop needs a reason, he'll find a reason. There are so many things that you can do that will give him the excuse he needs or if you make it easy on him, give him a reason to arrest you and then impound the car and do a real search. I know this sounds very "big brotherish" but it is not hard. Most of us will screw up enough for a pull over if he follows us long enough. Just somthing like touching the white line is enough. Thats the way it goes. Just stay clean while in your car and you have nothing to worry about.
