Where is the DIY to change Spark Plugs?
Hello,
I have 1999 Acura TL
This is my first time attempting to replace spark plugs ever.
I heard that the 3 Rear spark plugs may be a bit challenging to replace. Just wondering if anyone has any diagram or DIY.
Please post the link
Here are a couple tips that I found so far:
1. Cold Engine
2. 13 ft-lb torque
Any other tips will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Its pretty easy, dont sweat it. Make sure to use a spark plug socket that has the rubber insert in it (holds the plugs so they dont drop when youre removing the old ones). If you dont have a socket with the insert you can use a piece of rubber fuel line.
Make sure to check the gap before installing, the NGK usually are pre gapped but I always check to be sure.
Start the plugs by hand, and once started, attach your ratchet and torque to the 13 ft-lb. The back three arent as bad as you would think to get at. Take your time and once done you will look back and realize how easy it was

on my 01, use a plug socket, a 3 inch and a 6 inch extension for the ratchet
Its easier to lower in parts of the assembly to the plug.. than the unit assembled
There is even a place on the firewall your hand will fit with this setup
Use a blanket and lay across the fender
Tip- hand starting plugs- use a short piece of vac tubing- it slips on top tip of the new spark plug. Apply SMALL amount of plug anti sieze to its middle threads, lower into hole and start by hand
You can feel if its going in right or if you are forcing it it cross the threads
Treat the coils like fragile glass- use a soft towel to set the coil on when removed
Dropping one results in a misfire a month from now
Dont mess with the NGK gap- requires special tool to adjust and should be perfect when you get them

Thank you all.
I just got all the spark plugs changed.
However, I still have the original misfiring problem. Engine light turned on intermittently and sometimes TCS. Rough Jerk in first gear. I will get another reading.
Should I change the Spark Plug wires?
Any suggestion?

There are only coil packs-which you removed when you did the plugs. These serve as an individual coil and wire packaged all in one for each cylinder. They shouldnt be an issue..how many miles are on your TL? Do you have a way of retrieving the CEL codes?

sometimes a coil pack fails- get the codes checked , it should say multi cyl misfire with a few numbers of cyls and problem codes
Have to be really careful moving them and setting them down when changing the plugs or they get damaged internally and a while later,,,,,
Fresh plugs wont cure a bad coil~

codes can be read for free at most major name parts stores
