Question when I shut my engine off...

I hear a loud click. It's right at the point when all the lights and everything turnes off. I've never noticed this before, I've even turned my car off when I was taking a nap or something in it and never noticed this click before. Does anyone else have it?
It happens when you turn your key from the point of having your radio on and when it turns off. Please help!

is it your key that clicks it into the off position? and also when you remove the key from the ignition?

not that click when you remove it, the actual point where the radio turns on and off. Look at your clock. The point where it turns on and off, thats when it clicks. It doesn't click where the keys are, it clicks behind the panel.

More than likely there is a relay that is throwing one way or the other that is signaling to shut off power to all the acessories. While the car is on the relay is naturaly in the "powered up" position. When you shut the car off the relay no longer has a signal going to it so it switches to the "power off" position. This was/is common when first starting the car so the starter would get full power from the battery instead of giving partial power to the starter and partial power to the accessories.

This is why I cringe when I see people start their car with the headlights already turned on.:banghead:

Or it could be just like my old Talon. That sound was the fuel pump relay turning off just under the radio and next to the ECU.
