Hey guys, my dad has offered to pay for half of the total for whatever variation of an upgrade I get for my 99 TL. I definetly need new rims tho, because the clear coat is coming off the old ones and they look kinda crappy. I have a few options, but either way I must pay for half. I can buy a new wheel and tire package, either 17" or 18" and we will split the costs, OR I can get the old stock rims refurbished and get any type of window tint for the car. Which should I choose. My dad just got new tires for the stock 16s at the beginning of this year, but if I upgrade to a 17 or 18 I will need to get new tires as well. We want to stay as low as possible but still buy something good. My dad doesnt want to deal with a third party for neither the rims or tint or w/e so please don't bother mentioning the off topic individual sales on this site, cuz he's not interested. We are looking for a wheel/tire package on either discount tire or ntb and we have a local CarSmart that can do the tint. What should it be? Come up with something interesting for me to consider...At this point I'm all ears and I want my car to look nice...

anyways, its kinda a 3 part deal if u want new rims: wheels, tires, drop. so consider some type of coilover or lowering spring in the purchase. other than that go with whatever you prefer, everyones taste is different.. i prefer simple 5 spokes tho.

 

I recently got some Type S rims for my TL, and my local Discount Tires was able to pre-rate my old 16’s stock tires for the upgraded 17’ (I think they gave me like 80% of what the tires where worth). I’m sure they can work something out with you, especially if you are going to buy a wheel/tire package from them.

Thanks for the pointers..o and I paid $6500 to my dad's boss for this vehicle so I believe I've "worked my ass off" as far as that goes. My dad offered to help pay for new rims cuz I'm not gettn enough hours at work and they are lookn bad cuz the clear coat is coming off and he knows I cant afford them right now. I think my recent "grades" have helped my cause as well....
