Question What's wrong with my paint?

My ABP has strange little 1/4 inch irregular circle-like discoloroations, mainly on the hood, but also quarter panels.

Almost looks like the sheen of oil ontopof water. It's not scratched, and they don't wipe off like water marks....

Mr. Hyde, have you seen this?

I noticed it again during my 2nd/3rd washing today.

thanks

I never noticed anything like that, but I'll check more closely later and get back to you.

Unhappy Paint Problem

I had a paint problem on my lower passenger door panel....Looked like the paint gun stayed in one area too long....Gave a really bad orange peel effect to the paint, with some paint runs...

I noticed this problem the first time I washed my car. Took it to the dealer the next day.Dealer never saw anything like it.Gave me a rental car and repainted the panel..

Don't know if this is your problem or not, but I would let the dealer check it out.....

Good luck

I have the same problem on my TLS. It's very subtle. You can only see it if you look really closely at a low angle across the hood. These "blotches" seem to be concentrated around the ceter of the hood, near the center crease. It looks like a "birthmark" or something.

Anyway, it's not obvious on my car, so I don't think I'll make a big deal out of it. I, of course, will always notice it

yes daverman,

that is how i would say it looks too - subtle, low angle birthmarks swirls or splotches.

I checked my paint very closely, but I didn't see any irregularities. I guess that's one for the dealer.

Nothing like that on my car, and I have been over every inch when putting all my 10 coats of Finish First on. I do have a few defects, what looks like dust in the pint, but only in 2-3 spots in the entire car, not a big deal even for a nut like me. Perhaps its some sort of surface contaminant. try washing it with dishwashing liquid and see if it goes away. If not it sounds like a paint defect which maybe can be worked out by a detailer paid for by the dealer of course.

I have a white CL-S and Had the same problem. I washed, cleaned waxed, polished and waxed 3 times and still didn't go away. looks as if its under the clear coat. look like some paint cancer. You really can't take a pic cause i've tried it but i've shown people and they said it was deff a defect. BUT! i went to the dealer and they service guy got some megiures' quick deatilers wax' poured some one and it came out w/in 2 seconds. My jaw dropped and was amazed. I used megires 3 step system and it wouldn't remove it.

But im just glad the dealer was able to get it out.

Try takin git to the dealer.

I had the same thing occur on mine right after I bought it but miraculously it went away. I parked one night at my parents house and the sprinklers went on during the night. My car got quite wet and when I went out to get the car I noticed those little circles which resemble the skin of an orange. They wouldn't rub out but they are not there anymore. I have no explanation.
