My main concern is (narrow stock TLs wheels) and fender gap. Wish the wheels were wider for a more aggressive look like the 04 TL wheels

other minor issues
Wish the fogs were yellow (stock)
No autoup on passenger window feature
No one-touch sunroof open/close like other foreign cars

Otherwise, I really love my car...really I do!

I do mostly city driving and get ~17mpg, and the best I ever got was highway on the way home from buying the car in Vegas, almost 29mpg. Never come close to that anymore..usually happy to get 26 on the Vegas run.

I came from a 2002 Dodge Ram that got 9.5MPG. So the TLS is like an economy car to me

The sound of "vtec". Wife always warns not to drive the car hard since it makes loud noice and the engine will fall apart.

This week its the 6disk CD changer. After playing the last track of the current CD it changes to the next disk. The repeat function only works on the currenct track being played but not for the current disk. Most CD changes I've seen have the option to repeat a track or repeat a disk. This one doesn't.

Overall a good car. The interior materials are cheap. Turning radius can be better, rattles here and there. Car feels too light at times. But for around $30k can't complain....

Tell ya what, i'll be HAPPY to take that TL off your hands- my old Grand Cherokee (5.9L) was 11-12 city, 16 hwy. My current Cherokee gets 15mpg hwy, 12 city (lifted big tires, all those goodies, TL is DD)

Well, mine squeaks and creaks and makes all kinds of noises. I'm just sick and f*cking tired of the dealership telling me they "cannot duplicate the problem."

This car would be great except I'm having such POOR customer service from the dealership.

BTW, I have less than 7000 miles on my Type-S.

Thin paint by far.
Other than that my almost 3 year old '02 TL-P is tight and rattle free. I did have to have the tape strip installed to stop the sunroof rattle. Now that tape is starting to peel up

It's doing a pretty good job at surviving the "attack of the baby". Since it's my wife's car and the baby goes everywhere with here the TL is now the "rolling daycare". I still love the way it drives but the "baby on board" sign in the rear window is a bit much.

I didn't like the soft suspension on my 2002 TL-P. Luckily, that was easily changed by changing tires and wheels, and lowering the car! The overboosted steering was also a bother, but the 2004 TL is much improved.

The only thing that I don't like about my TL is that it's not a Type-S.

I got the 99 b/c I really like the front clip on the 99-01s. I just wish they made a Type-S with that front clip

(1) Rattles and squeeks from the dash
(2) Cheap a$$ interior plastic materials that love finger prints and scuff way too easily.
(3) Bad/easy to chip paint
(4) Driver side air vent that always points upwards.

Well it's been a couple of weeks but I'm going back tomorrow (Monday) and drop off the car.

The sunroof problem has a TSB for it and the dealership supposedly did this; it was quiet for three weeks. The rattling sound is back...

My passenger seat makes a rattling sound. I've narrowed it down to the seat back...

My dash makes rattling noises ever so often but it's happening more and more...

Both seat belt buckles in the front make noises (it's either the bolt or plastic buckle itself)...

Things I dislike about my 99 TL, in no particular order....

1)Brakes
2)Paint
3)Rattles, seat belt? or seat? not sure which one, doors
4)Vinyl inserts around leather (looks cheap)
5)Plastic interior, fake wood
6)FWD
7)CD player won't play all burned CDs and it isnt a 6 Disc, I know the new ones are though.
8)No flip down seats
9)Speakers covers are discolored.

1) Sunroof squeak in less than 6 months. Service center fixed it and fortunately it never came back.
2) Tranny failure
3) Overall, other things have been produced by long commuting drives; front glass broken 2 times in less than a year, car accident in 2001, new tires (all 4) at 85K miles and paint chips.

....yeah, I hate it when you "eject" a c.d. and you're fitchin' for the another one but it doesn't give you much time before it goes to play the next c.d. in the dash. It pi$$es me off, cause sometimes I'll be driving and I get frustrated which could cause an accident. I know, I know.... I should be more responsibe and NOT do it while I'm driving, but how many of you will actually pull off the road and do that?

Oh, and I hate the fact that I can't fold down the back seats to load bigger things...

the fact that i find that there are features in the 2001 corola LE that i don't have. Very simply, auto lock and un-lock with key turning on /off engine. Climate control is a b*t*h unless u let atuo climate control drain ur gas. I have to leave the screen on to see the time. Always worry if it'll burn the moniter

*FWD
*Turning cycle sucks
*Brakes

I mean i love my TLS you know, but i worry/hated those parts

Rotors, tranny, squeaky, poorly built, crappy paint job, poor weight distribution, poor handling... but besides that, I still love my car.

Rotors are starting to warp on my car... which doesn't bother me much because I had numerous brake problems on my previous car. This is nothing compared to it.

Poor handling, but expected on a 3,500lb FWD family sedan. Fixed by lowering it and getting Comptech sway bars.

Squeak from the seat belt on the driver's seat. It bothers me to no end. I want to blow that thing up with a 12 ga. shotgun.

Other than that, I love my car. I get compliments everywhere I go, and I'm only getting started.

Crappy front Brakes. The Stock brake system doesn't like high speed mountain driving. I pretty much know what my next mod will be.

cheap paint (not car wash (handwashed) friendly at all),
annoying sunroof rattle,
the poor mpg in the city,
mysterious squeeks that drive me mad because i cant locate them =]

but besides the minor set backs, the car is AWESOME.

1. No VSA on TLP models
2. CD Player (although I'm about to have this fixed by putting a 6 cd in dash player in)

Other than that, I love my car!!!!

The only thing that I will like for this car to get better(improve) will be that forward surge that you get when the car is at a stop and the aircond kicks "on".

The one thing i hate are TL-S owners who think that their cars are fast. They really arent that fast. They would be alot quicker if acura changed the ratios. I'm sorry acura, but i do not need 2 overdrives!!! 3rd gear should not be 1:1.

Another thing i hate is the cheap plastic shiftgate. Soda was spilled on mine and it took the silver paint off!! Now i have two small white spots about 1/2" in diameter. Does anyone know what a new one will run me from the dealer?

...after i drive it again, i'll remember all the other things that piss me off about it.

Hey twenty03-Type-S - If you are having problems with your dealer you need to ask for the name and number of the District Sales Manager. I had a HELL of a time with my dealer starting with the fact they delivered a car to me with 1150 dollars worth of damage to the paint (acid rain etching - long to story but you can read all about it if you do a search on my name). By chance a friend of mine me the District Sales Manager who flat out told my friend I should have gotten a new car, no questions asked...the DSM seems to know that bad customer service means you will tell at least 10 of your friends how many problems you have had with your Acura...long story short he got all of my problems taken care of and told me if I was still not happy he would make it right no matter what it took (he did more for me than Acura Corporate did).

Oh the worst thing(s)

The steering wheel mounted controls are not lighted, the turn signal looks like the took it from an 85 Dodge Omni, the lower vents don't seem to be pointing at your legs/feet, no lining in the Sunglasses holder (ratle when they are in there), 5 Speaker Bose sound - f l a t ...

But - other than small gripes (okay the lighted steering wheel controls - my dang Alero has em - makes it so much easier to use your Cruise Control at night)....

not a car on the market than can touch it for all you DO get....for the $$$
