What a weekend..

Installed my header yesterday, tranny blew today!

I finally installed my XS header yesterday with a friend of mine. It took us about 3 hours (and I changed my brake pads too). The install overall went ok, and it's done. I have minor resonance at 2,500 rpm and maybe a small air leak. I just need to retighten everything. What else would help? I noticed some difference in the top end. Great mod for the money.

My tranny blew at 42k miles. I was driving back to school, just with the cruise control on going 75 mph, and my tranny started to freak out. The car started reving to 6k rpm, and when I canceled the cruise control and tried to press the gas, the car just reved and the gears wouldn't catch. I pulled over on the side of the highway, and parked my car. I tried to put it into drive and sport shift a couple of times but the car wouldn't move. My tranny is toast. I had it towed to the dealership and I'm waiting for a call from the dealership (because the service department isn't open today). Towing cost me $220. Damn oh well.

I have driven my car two days for over a month and now she's got to go back to the shop. Can't even install my icebox till spring break now.

Wow. That was an eventful weekend. Hopefully the replacement transmission will be a long lasting one!

I read other reports where Acura has covered the towing cost so you might want to ask about that. And check your auto insurance to see if you have any towing coverage.

Good luck!

Bob

Welcome to the club Leo!

Although.. it's not really a club we want to be in.

BTW, I had the same thing happen to me last October/November. I got a new tranny installed, and well... I think it's on it's way out again. No major signs yet, just delays in gear shifts when I'm not even using SS mode.

But eh... I'm gonna drive the sh*t out of my TL-S until it hits 109k. I no longer give a crap about the tranny because I'll keep on getting a new one until I hit 109k. Once 109k comes, its time for a new car.

Good choice on the Icebox.

are the new trannys fixed?

the acura dealership called me this morning, to return my message. they said, "we understand you car was towed here yesterday but they didn't know what the problem was". someone drove the car this morning and IT DROVE. when my tranny blew, i couldn't drive anywhere cuz the gears wouldn't catch. I would just roll around.

well they are going to call me for an update. hope they don't say anything about the header.

Don't you hate it, when the car is still under warranty, they always say, "everything is normal", and once it is out of warranty, everything is broken even if it is normal.

That suck !

Make sure you save the towing receipt and get it reimbursed from the dealership.

^ After market products are fine.

US Code Title 15 Chapter 15 section 2301 --> http://www.keystonekrawlers.com/Docu...agnusonAct.pdf

The dealers need to prove that the modification was the cause of the problem in order to void the warranty.

Its well known that the 99-03 TLs have tranny problems. They won't bitch about modifications harming our TLs trannys.

Now if you had Nos and it somehow blew the engine.. that might be a problem.

My car is jerking whenever I go from park to reverse, or drive to reverse....and usually takes a few seconds to get in gear in drive...is that enough to get a replacement, or am I gonna have to wait until it completely dies?
