okay some i was flooring my car....just seeing what it could do....right after it topped off at 3rd it the RPMS DROPPED to 4k? im like WTF and seeemeedd soooooooooo slowwwwwwww... i was like uhhhh....

what does the TL-S do that?

 

put it into SS mode and hold it to redline(around 105-110mph), then shift. when it goes into 4th then you will be in VTEC and will accelerate, it will be slow till like 120 then it starts to go again

 

I agree, I wish when I was in 5th and had to pass someone, I could just drop it to 3rd and go. Vrrrroooommmmm.....
4th gear seems like such a waste.

 

shiet vtec is around 5k 4k-5k in 4th is a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGg time im like omi goodnesss my car feels like a civic grrrrr .

 

thats why i said hold 3rd to 105-110, and when you go into 4th you will be in VTEC when it goes into gear

 

when you shift through the gears do you take your foot off the gas or do leave it floored?

 

leave it floored!!

 

If you car is stock when you shift from 3rd to 4th even if you hold it it will kick you out of vtec.

Get headers and intake and you never leave vtec til from 1st to 4th....

 

It should also be pointed out that 4th and 5th gear are both overdrive. It's amazing they do what they do with 2 big gears. Get a VTEC controller and that transition should improve. I don't have one yet but all the reading seems like it would help.

IMO, the 105-115MPH that you can do in 3rd gear should be more than enough for everyone. You shouldn't be driving if it isn't.

 

another thing is that the 99 TL is only 4 gears, so we really dont waste a gear
