Question what should I pay for new TL-S?

Hi gang!

I'm ready to join the club! In about 3-4 weeks I'm going to go to the dealer and (hopefully) emerge with a new TL type S! I haven't decided on a color yet, but I'm leaning toward blue or silver.

The question: (and I realize dealers HATE when we discuss this on forums)...what should I pay for a 2002 TL type S with Nav??

What have you all paid (if you don't mind me asking!)? I will be buying in the Washington D.C. area.

Also two other questions-

- should I add the gold trim or is this too cheesy?
- Is the Nav really worth $2000? That can buy an awful lot of maps, and I hate the way they integrated the AC controls into it! I'm leaning towards getting it because I'm moving to Washington D.C. and don't know the area that well.

Thanks for your help!

No Nav, no rear wing.

I lived in North Carolina and paid $29750 back on 07/01. I think if you can get this price, you got yourself a good deal!

Gold trim is cheezy, NAV RULES!! If you don't get the NAv you will most likely regret it in the future.

I paid $29,500 with my 93 Integra trade in, back in April. Well, then I had to pay all the fees and tax on top of that.

Hey Riceman, where in NC did you buy? I bought mine at Leith in Cary back in April. Paid $29,900 + tax & options.

I agree, mid to high 29's is a good deal. Add about $1800 or so for Nav from what I have heard. Personally, I think the nav might be worth it if you are new to DC. I almost bought it because I run up there about once a year.

I paid $29,520 plus TTL for a non-navi Aegean Blue TL-S back on July 31st. Like rockinTLS said, add around $1800 for a navi. BTW, I didn't get the NAV, and I don't regret it for a second. If I'm going somewhere I've never been, I do something really strange.... I get directions :p , either online or from someone in the destination area. About 99% of my driving is to and from work, which I know how to do, so that also made it a waste. Good luck.....

thanks for the input guys!

So, it sounds like I can get an '02 TLS with Nav for around 31,500 or so. Has anyone out there got one for around this?

Also, regarding the NAV, ordinarily I wouldn't even consider it. $2000 can buy lots of maps. Heck, it can even buy a nice computer which you can download maps on! But, if any of you have ever been to Wash D.C., it's the most confusing driving experience ever! It has all these crazy traffic circles, and one-way streets...it's an absolute nightmare! Not to mention you wouldn't want to get lost in the Murder capitol of the world.

I paid $29,800 TLS non-nav, nothing else. in MD in September. I figure another $1500-2k for the nav should be about right. Email me at mike_snyder@hotmail.com and I'll give you the email address of a MD dealer who gave me the best deal I could find at the time.

I got mine from Downey Acura in southern cal, this wont help you much but i paid 31483 before tax and license. Its a Satin Silver type S with Navigation. And by the way, the nav system is definately worth it. You will never need maps again and it provides a nice ambient light while driving at night. Good luck on the car.

I just bought my 2002 TL-S, no Nav, with Spoiler and moonroof visor for 30,500 (Austin, TX). I actually called all the Acura dealers in Texas and asked them to fax me a quote, then had David McDavid Acura here in Austin match it.

Gold trim is definitely waaaay cheesy....

Paid $29,300 in July for non Navi. Got it from Nalley Acura in Atlanta. I know o a couple of other people who purchased the Navi. version for $31,300.

No regrets about not getting the Navi. I like the looks of the dash without the Navi better. Unless you go to a lot of new places, save the cash. You can always buy a portable Navi for a few hundred dollars.

I am also ready to join the TL-S family. I test drove a TL and TL-S just after 9/11 (had to drive my dream car to make myself feel better after the tragedy), and definitely prefer the TL-S. I am now ready to buy, and will be doing so in the next month or so.

Has anyone purchased this car in the Cleveland, OH area recently? what price paid? That is, without navi, as I find it an unnecessary distraction.

Thanks

Hey Paultl. Where in the bay area did you get yours ? Who did you work with ? I am going to the car show in San Fransico this weekend to look at them all but the TL-S with nav or a used GS 400 are still at the top of my list.

The only help I can give is, get the NAV if you can. I know my way around and thought I did not want it. But it is really cool some times to just let the NAV get you there. It is not perfect, but it is a nice feature to have.

After all the numbers are crunched, deal the deal with a extented warranty. I got the numbers I wanted and finally told them that the deal is contingent on an extended warranty and got it for a $1,000. If you check my signature, I was already getting a smoking deal and did not want to go $800 for the warranty.

Don't be afraid to walk and try really hard to actually talk with the Sales Manager. Once you talk with the Sales Manager, at least you get a bit more rapport going.

Good luck

Cool Extended warranty

I agree with the suggestion of an extended warranty. I tend to keep cars past their manufacturer's warranty (which I generally reach at 2 years or less). Extended warranty is always a good idea in this circumstance, even with a TL, which has a longer warranty than most cars.

Paid 31,200 for a Acura TL-S with nav including mud flaps, wheel locks and a trunk tray.....back on April 21 on this year.

BTW-Get the nav, it will become your best friend moving to a new city.

Good Luck

Thumbs up NJ price

I did the email and fax attack as per this board to DE, NJ, MD, DC, PA, and it sure paid off - my price wasn't the best (29,600 nonavi, ABP, no wing), but the fact that every salesperson/dealer had a different price and then would beat the best one you had half the time was the way to a cheaper car.

Try to get one of them to fax you some sort of paperwork with dealer letterhead type info and a price written down, so you have something on paper in your hand to barter with if they challenge you and think you are just making up the price to get a better one out of them.

All I know now is that they are advertising the same car in the paper at a dealership near me for under $29K, as advertised, so you know you can get a better price than all of us who bought 3-6 months ago.

NO nave and never needed it badly enough to regret it, but it looks good, better looking console than without it. I think I'll spend the money and put in a DVD/TV/Playstation for the kid.

ps DocCat, where do you practice?

hey Doccat... u moving to Rockville, MD.. kool... i Live in Silver spring, MD... about 10 min away from rockville... are u planning on buying the car in MI or MD?

If you are planning on getting in MD/VA/DC I would shoot for a price of 31,500... every location is different.. and when i bought my TLS w/Navi it was in high demand.. so you might be able to get it a bit lower...

i've heard Radley Acura in Va is good.. and another Northern Va Acura dealership is good.. do not go to Acura West where i got mine... I got lousey sales service there... i could go on and no..
rosenthal acura will be 15-20 min from you.. i would suggest checking out there prices vs. northern VA dealer prices.. good luck

I paid $29578 + tax back in May for non Navi/non Wing at Rosenthal in Gaithersburg. I would add around $1700 to that for Navi.

My Sales dude was Mike McCormack. He did me right. Rosenthal Service has been really good as well.

I would shy away from Radley, they were awful to deal with, Pohanka was also o.k., but were several hundred higher back then. Could not get a quote from Tischer over the net.

I would think one could do a bit better now, probably around $29K w/o Navi or so as the dealers have ample Type S in stock now.

Could you post a pic of the wood steering wheel if possible, does it look too cheesy because of the fake wood?
