No, it's very minimal maybe 2-3 hp which is pretty much nothing. It's more for "sound and show" than "go".

3-4 HP?!!? Thats weak especially for $ 500! I thought it was a catback system. Wont bolting on a couple of other mufflers give you that much HP? I like the tanabe G=power medalion tips and mufflers better anyways, how much HP would I get from that? Eff it how bout some cherry bombs from shucks, HAHA.

The mufflers we use are straight thru, so there isn't any more flow increase to be had. The TL/CL/Accord isn't like other cars where a muffler change will yeild big gains. They work pretty darn well from the factory. The only way to get more power would involve a larger header, larger catalytic converter, and then larger pipes running to the mufflers. But since putting a larger cat on there isn't legal, you can't get any more gains and stay legal.

I agree. You spend the $$ for looks, sound, and quality. The little bit of hp is a bonus. I continue to be extremely pleased.
BTW, after less than 1000 miles, I swapped out the dino oil that the dealer used for Mobil 1. The inside of the exhaust gets black much too quickly with conventional oil.

What do you guys use to clean the SS on the Comptech Exaust? The salt and grim is making itlook terrible. Just the soap from the car wash?

CompTech Exhaust makes 4hp for the TL... this is straight from MikeB's keyboard. ![](http://www.acura-tl.com/ubb/smile.gif)
CL Type-S is the one that only gets 2-3hp since it already has a free flow exhaust from the factory.![](http://www.acura-tl.com/ubb/smile.gif)
I'm still waiting on word for the Accord V6.![](http://www.acura-tl.com/ubb/biggrin.gif)

NSX4DR...Dynoed his car before and after the Exhaust...He showed an increase of 13 HP. I can't imagine it varying that much from car to car. I would go with a dynoed car and stick with that number.

1) I use the Blue Magic stuff, which is essentially like the old silver polish grandma used with some silicone added - it cleans and protects nicely.
2) I agree with Einstein about the carbon reduction (I use RedLine) but I also found that the carbon inhibited/covered up the rust on the inside of the exhaust pipe.

It's got a pleasing sound...on startup is a deep tone(sounds suhweeeeeeeeeeT), at idle u hear it very little.. in the rpm range you hear it from idle to about 3k rpm, it silences, then comes back when the VTEC kicks in..if you're on full throttle, you will hear it throughout the range, but more at lower and higher ends. it's bad!

I have Greddy cat back and I don't quite know how much I gained. At most I truly believe 5HP. To the wheel that probably translates to little less than 1HP IMO. Remember I got CT Headers, AEM CAI, Greddy Cats, and VTEC controller and I only dynoed 204 at the wheels. Don't get me wrong, I kick a lot of car's ass now. ![](http://www.acura-tl.com/ubb/biggrin.gif)

I drove ith my friend, he has an apexi exhaust(for the accord) with the header and intake... His exhaust is louder than mine(even before header and intake), but mine has a more pleasing sound. He says there is no significant gain in sound with the header, and from what I heard when he took me for a ride he was right, the intake had that sucking sound, and was relatively quiet until u punched the car, then you hear the intake, IMO, the sound of the intake wasn't too pleasing to me, I am shying away from putting in CAI..He had CAI, but never installed the other half of the pipe, so it was a short ram(the difference between the short ram and CAI is a 6 inch extenson pipe which with CAI the piping runs further down for better airflow.

Shoofin,
I always favored Akimoto Funnel Ram II in my previous cars. But I didn't like the fact that it was sucking in the "hot" air inside the engine bay. That's why I figured I should go with CAI this time. But I hear it's hard to clean.. (I'd have to jack up the car first). So, how's the replacement filter you have?? Is it any good??? Any horsepower gain? Do you recommend it? I'm assuming the soud won't be any louder with the replacement filter.
Thanks for your inputs.

Nah it isn't much louder than stock, as for performance gains, I have it in for a long time now so I don't remember what it was like before..I am going to remove the restrictor under the airbix to permit more cold air to get to the filter for better airflow, that is supposed to free some more power too, thats how NSX4dr got his claimed 13 hp increase, witht he restrictor removed and CT exhaust.
