Question What does every get per gallon?

I'm getting a dismally low 15 mpg. Is this supposed to be normal?

I'm getting around 20 -21 MPG combined road/highway. Very happy with the MPG to performance ratio.

That seems pretty low for a car rated 19/29 though isn't it?

How many miles are on your TLs? My friend said that after the first oil change/3000 miles, the mileage should get better and the engine should run smoother.

Does driving the car in the sequential sportshift mode supposed to give you better mileage?

No, worse. You generally shift higher in SS than in automatic.

Well , i think 19/29 is ideal ideal like 100 % utilization , to get the real value you must reduce it by 3/4 so it will be 15/16 for city and 25/26 for highway. I must say it's normal , it's the same thing that happened with my friend's accord v6 , only they get slightly more mpgs. but his is a 3.0 , ours is 3.2 , it's normal dude , if u like efficient mpg get a honda hybrid , or toyota echo...

i'm getting between 23-26 mpg. but i don't drive fast anymore, nor do i punch the pedal up and down when i'm driving in-town. i still haven't gone over 80mph yet. i know that sounds crazy, but as you get older your car insurance rates get very reasonalbe to afford and i want to keep it take way.

My TL is pretty new. I have less than 2k miles on it, and I'm already getting pretty good mileage.

My last trip, I was doing some freeway driving at 82mph and even some mountain driving. On the freeway I used automatic. On the mountain roads, I used the sportshift. I got a trip average of 25mpg.
Not too shabby.

16.68 mpg last tank, thats pretty average for me - surprisingly half that tank was right when I put on the intake! We'll see how goes the next tank, its at about 3/4.

I drive my stock TL VERY hard, so I can't complain about 16MPG. In the spring I'm gonna be in trouble when I do my upgrades.

I'm getting about 21MPG and I drive pretty hard. I drove from LA to Vegas averaging 85 MPH the whole way and got about 26 MPG on that trip. I'm having too much fun to worry about MPG though!!!!

I have driven 260 miles on my tank of gas already and the needle is two notches below the midway point. I am going to shoot for 400 miles for this tank.

Wow... you are probably babying your car too much. If you really drive it hard, there is no way you get 24 to 25 mpg.

I get about 15 to 18 depending on how I drive. And I don't think I'm even driving *hard*.

Maybe you're just showing off that you're made of $$$!! J/K.

That's really good that you get that kinda mileage per gallon if you're really driving hard. Hmm.. there's gotta be some wrong with my TL then. But then, I do drive my car hard to the point that some of my friends think I'm trashing my car.

I am not saying that I floor my car at every stop light. What I mean by driving hard is that I floor it at every Freeway Entrance, since I love the rush of fast accelerations. I always keep it in 3rd on the freeway so I can step on it when someone tries to race me.

For those of you that do not have headers yet, you will be amazed how fast your TL can accelerate from 80 to 120.

Also, every freeway on/off-ramp, I try to speed through them to see how fast I can go. The next time I do the same on/off-ramp, I also try to see if I can beat my last speed

The worst mileage I've gotten is 22mpg.

Some words about gas mileage.EPA gas mileage numbers are calculated under very controlled conditions. These conditions do not reflect real world driving conditions however they are repeatable and that is what the EPA is after.Fuel mileage is entirely dependant upon where and how you drive. The EPA on the other hand subjects vehicles to what they call city mode or highway mode driving. In other words so many miles at a given speed equals this many gallons of fuel consumed.Typical consumer results with gas mileage can vary greatly hence that little disclaimer on the window sticker about "comparison purposes only your mileage may vary".As an example gas mileage changes alot if you drive in stop and go although you are traveling at a slow average speed the engine is still running with the A/C on and being used in an inefficient way.The EPA tests cars with the A/C off and usually at a steady speed.WHY you ask for the simple reason to make the test repeatable with the same results each time.Turning off the A/C is done because climatic conditions already have some impact on fuel economy having the A/C on only makes the impact larger. Also not all cars are equipped with A/C so they equalize the test for all vehicles by turning off the A/C.Now how many of you drive with your A/C off? most likely few if any of you do that.Should you elect to to use the sport shifter to improve fuel mileage I would tend to believe that this is a waste of time. The SS shifter exists to offer some amount of control over a process controlled by a computer. It makes the car "sporty".The computer is designed from the get go to extract the best acceleration and fuel mileage from the car,you will notice that the car produces max torque an max hp figures lower than the actual redline. The computer knows this and balances your driving style against known engine parameters to accomplish the best and most effeicient operation.Jens

Japultra:your A/C is on all the time regardless of outside weather conditions. This is done so that the interior air in your vehicle is dry.If you do not believe me start your car and go and watch your A/C compressor under the hood. You will see it cycle as though it were 90 degrees out.The only time the A/C is fully off is when you command the climate control system to be in the off position or in economy mode.Jens

I drove to and from Atlanic Cty this weekend, filled up in NJ before going home to NY, had about 220 on the trip odo and a half tank. Filled up about 9.3 gallons, it averaged 24.3 miles per gallon,. Normally I get 14-15 in street driving, about 200 miles on the full tank before I fill up again.

Thanks for the tip Jen. Now I'll have to make sure the AC is off all the time. Do you know if I turn it off if anything bad will happen?

I'm currently almost at half tank with (1 notch over) with only 90 miles..

I filled up my gastank on Friday, drove about 250 miles about 30% City and 70% highway and i still have about 1/4 tank left. Do you drive in traffic alot? Besides, I don't think that gas prices are as bad as here in the CA BayArea -- about $2.00 / Gal for Premium!!

Cool

Mine is a 2000, with 12,100 miles (stock with a scheduled regular service at 7,500 miles), I average 340 miles and fill it up with 14.3 + gallons, use 92 octane Chevron, driving 25-30 miles daily (16-20 miles freeway). I have not taken it for any trips out of Los Angeles, so I presume my mileage would be way better in a non-stop 300 mile drive to Vegas.

BTW, AC on or off makes no substantial difference, Honest, I tested it driving with the AC on all week and the fuel light came on at around 310 miles and put only 13.7 gallons

You guys probably don't check your tires' air pressure, I keep mine at 32 psi.

I love it. Thank God I dumped my modified Mustang, I had to fill up every 200 miles!!
