What to do about my dirty TL

I know that most of you don't approve of auto car washes...but what other options are there since it is too cold for me to be washing it by hand at home. Also I don't know of any place that hand washes in my area. Any suggestions on how to clean my car? Thanks for reading.

hand wash

Whenever i'm in NY visiting my hometown and family there is a hand wash place on Merrick Blvd. & 220th street in Queens that I goto. No machine's no brushes, they charge like 8 or 9 buxs just for the outside inside and out runs about 12 buxs. Figured Queens is close enough to you since your in BK. Good luck in your search....

I found a great one near my house that does an excellent job when I doon't have time or an O'Neil wet suit nearby. I give the guy(s) two bucks after they dry it off. They wash still has the high velocity air-blowers but these guys get most of the little stuff left over. The wax they use is realy nice too. For those of you in Cincinnati it's called Johnny's Car Wash on Beechmont Avenue. The "eveything wash is about $18 so with the tip you can say good-bye to a twenty. Well worth it though.

HYDE... how long does the wait take before they get your car into the place? I know the wash itself is 45mts, but what about prior waiting? This looks like it would be a 2 1/2 hour ordeal?

But its great!!

I use one of those places that you drive your car into the bay and you throw a whole lot of quarters in and you spray the car your self. You get wet yourself from the overspray but at least you dont have brushes against your car (not to mention the guy with the bad body odor who has to drive your car out of the autowash)

larryr20, I use that too, but lately I've been going to the ones where you drive into a little garage thing and they wet the car with high pressure hoses and then soap it and then hose it off, all this is done without touching the car, just a machine that goes around your car. I think that's called touchless car washes? Works well if you just want to get the salt and mud off. Nothing beats a handwashed car!

ive resorted to doing this as well....i normally go to a touchless car wash, but with the amount of snow we're getting up here, its pointless.....so i just go rinse all that crap off once a week....plus im on a college budget so those 1.50 rinse and wash places are alot cheaper compared to the $6 touchless...

sounds like were all trying to deal with the Northern NJ snow and crap they are putting on the roads. You are all right, nothing beats a handwashed car but anything to get the corrosive s*&t off the car is worth it.

45 min:wow: our touch free car washes only take like 15 min.
(they dry the car by hand also)

Depends on when you go, I'm sure some weekends when its suddenly nice out all of a sudden are murder. I have usually gone on weekdays when I was off. Typically in and out in about 1-1.5 hours.

They wash the car like I would, separate buckets, and mits for the top and bottom of the car, tey get all the door jams, clean the trunk, etc, etc., there are no rails to drive through.

The extra time and $$ are worth it to me, and to my friends who know me, its a big deal that I actually let someone else wash my car.

I suck it up to wash my car with the best of them, but when its in the -20, -30 range with windchill, I'm not stupid. At those temps, water pipes burst, and driveways become scating rinks after a wash. In the last 2 weeks, I know at least 4 people who have had their water pipes which are inside the house, but against the outer, inner wall burst. I turned off my outside water faucets a long time ago.
