If your gonna go through the trouble of removing the resonator box you should just buy the AEM CAI from Tim. You get a little extra kick in higher rpms plus it'll look cooler

check out the easy instructions here....

Its a VERY easy install...just takes some time due to tedious measures.

I just don't want the loud sound that the CAI makes. I like the "factory" sound if you know what I mean.

If you don't want an increase in noise, don't remove the resonator chamber. The sole purpose of the chamber is noise reduction.

If you do elect to remove the chamber, do not remove the rubber boot intalled in the lower portion of the factory air box. The shape of the boot smooths incoming air. Without the boot there will be a loud howling sound at idle.

In either case (no resonator chamber or CAI) there is not a noticeable increase in sound until vtec is engaged.

I have that setup.

If you are going to take the resonator out atleast put a K&N filter so it can breath better.

The sound is a little louder than stock but not as loud as a CAI. if that's what your looking for

Taking out the resonator box will give you slight increase in torque/ hp. I definately feel quicker response from my car after I took it out. The noise is almost non-exisitent.... but only slightly louder than stock for those w/ sensitive ears.

Taking it out is pretty straightforward. After taking off your front bumper, I recommend you take off the front driver side wheel so you have better access to the bolt holding the box down. Good luck.
